Bruno Sammartino (1935–2018) – "The Living Legend"

Early Life
Bruno Leopoldo Francesco Sammartino was born October 6, 1935, in Pizzoferrato, Abruzzo, Italy. During WWII, his family hid from German troops in the mountains and he was sickly as a child. In 1950, he immigrated to Pittsburgh with his mother to join his father. He took up weightlifting to build himself up and quickly became one of the strongest men alive — in 1959 he bench pressed 565 lbs, an unofficial world record at the time. 6f54badb
