This a good one. So Reuben find as 1cy (1st calendar year or born this year) Caspian Gull at Tate Modern, London. It’s an old patch I watched in the mid 90s which it was called Bankside Reach (an old power station before being converted into an art gallery). So I do a radio interview on Saturday morning and head down there. I pick it up and think it looks different. It’s not very tame but I still get amazing photos. It spends most of its time under Blackfriars Bridge. I get home and start processing the photos eventually and think where’s the ring? I check Reuben’s pictures and it’s the WRONG AGE AND DOESN’T HAVE RING!!! A new bird…. Back in the 90s I had a probably one down there so it was great finally connect and despite dipping one, I located another one

More wader action. I spend most of time editing sound recordings and uploading them to and eBird so nice to get on top of photo editing and here these sexy juvenile and moulting into 1st winter Dublins were great fun. I love some close up wader action. At Spurn Bird Observatory you can get close view just by waiting from them up to walk up to you. These badboyz or badgirlz were great fun

Western Yellow Wagtail action🔥🔥🔥🔥 So I haven’t worked out the race involved…. They are a bit of nightmare. In the spring most are solvable but in the autumn. Ouch! This one was smooching about a park in Dubai. I’ve been watching it, the park, since April and this was the first migrant. The day afterwards I can hear Blue-cheeked Bee-eater going overhead - I can’t see it, it’s just calling from the heavens
