Story of the Match
A highly charged up Kannur RLCC was eyeing nothing less than a third win in their final league match.RLCC came up with few changes on their side. Star studded opener Suleiman, bowling ace Vishnu and fielding marshal Sreejith were rested. Basha, Shaheer and Rashid joined the side.
RLCC opening pair Saji and Rasheed came in the middle. Rasheed was in great form and he made his intentions very clear from the word “GO”. Once again Saji was dismissed for a mere 2 runs when he miss timed a shot and awarded an easy catch to the fielder at short mid-on. Hemin who went in after Saji’s departure was in a mood of revenge for his early dismissals in last two matches. He pounded the opponent bowlers with sheer power and set the turf on fire. It was feast to the eyes for the spectators every time when Hemin was on strike. Bowlers were clueless to stop this classy player and got punished ruthlessly.
At the other end Rasheed with his matured and well controlled innings justified his inclusion in the playing eleven. He also didn’t allow the opponent bowlers to take easy breath as the ball was dispatched all over the park. Everything was working well for RLCC and the scoreboard was racing towards a huge total. Then came the break-through for the opponents in the form of Rasheed’s wicket who was caught out for 46 in 24 balls.
Arun the Vice-Captain of RLCC decided to carry the innings along with Hemin who was on fire and chipped in with a very valuable 21 runs from16 balls before getting bowled of an excellent Yorker by Safdar. Disaster struck RLCC when Hemin tried to run the ball down to third man and got caught in the slips. Saheer was sent in by the Captain who began in style and yet another cameo – 23 runs from 13 balls ended when he was caught LBW by Saleesh. Then RLCC’n batsmen threw away their wickets in haste and the innings collapsed. Where once the projected score was over 250, RLCC’n innings ended up for 224 in the 20th over.
Great round of applause to Noman Safdar and Saleesh for their disciplined bowling that helped Alappey to restrict the RLCC’n score board at 224.
Chasing the target of 225 runs, YMCC started off confidently. Unnikrishnan was once again at his best and gave a hard time to the openers. Unfortunately he lacked support from the other end in keeping up the pressure on the opponent batsmen. Runs were coming in flurry and it seemed that the match was slipping out for RLCC. The match was poised in an interesting situation when Arun was given the ball as RLCC was desperately looking for a break through. Arun with his controlled variation in his pace gave a difficult time to the batsmen and created chances twice in his first over. RLCC fielders spilled both the chances.
Excellent bowling by Unni and Arun helped RLCC to prolong the victory for YMCC to the last over of the match. Though wickets fell in intervals, RLCC bowling side generously credited the extras as second highest scorer in the opponent’s batting score card – 37 extras given away cost the match for RLCC.
YMCC won by 4 wickets.
Great batting display by Sandeep Poojary and Saleesh Lakshman who held their nerves and played the pivotal role in YMCC victory.
With the excellent performance throughout the group stages barring a minor hiccup this match, RLCC still topped the Group A with the best net run rate, and march to the Quarter Finals, which will be played on 08.02.19 against the mighty Calicut Splendid CC.
Battles that are lost, are winning lessons to create history in battles to come. Let’s get back stronger and steadier 💪💪👍👍.

Story of the Match
After winning the toss Machos CC decided to bat first. Openers Jameel Ahmed and Riyaz KK started off convincingly and gave an excellent start to their innings. RLCC opening bowling pair. Unni and Hemin where taken to task in the initial overs and Machos CC were cruising towards a big total. Krishna Kumar once again brought in as first bowling change struggled to contain the opponent batsmen.
Then came Vishnu, the RLCC’n trump card struck in his first over itself. Riyaz tried for an aerial shot and ended up in safe hands of Suleman. Vishnu again struck in his second over by claiming two crucial wickets. Thanks to Hemin and Sreejith for their excellent catches. Kannur RLCC was back in to the game and opponent batsman struggled to find runs there in the middle.
Mohammed Juffary spun the opponents with his gentle but deadly leg breaks and Ramshad set the turf on fire with his furious pace. Both Juffary and Ramshad bagged wickets when that was much needed for RLCC by forcing the opponents to the back seat.
Vishnu once again clinched a wicket in the 19th over. Hemin took a breath-taking catch by his 50 yard run from long on to grab the ball. Vishnu could have completed his spell with a remarkable 5 wickets haul, if not for the drop catches by otherwise excellent RLCC’n fielding side.
Machos CC settled their score at 185 in 20 overs.
Chasing the target of 186. RLCC openers Saji and Suleman gave a blazing start to their innings. Saji who was looking good, gifted his wicket to the opponents in a harmless bowl in the fourth over. Hemin joined Suleman in the middle and were looking set to take RLCC ashore. Hemin was given out LBW in the 8th over while he tried to shuffle in front of the wicket and Machos CC smelt blood.
Mohammed Jufary joined Suleman and was comfortably scoring in singles and doubles rotating the strike. Suleman, after his slow start was gearing up for the spectacular by his occasional but priceless huge sixes that proved to be the “X Factor”. Juffary ran himself out in the 15th over, responding to a call from Suleman and the scoreboard showing 135 runs. Another 51 runs in 30 balls for RLCC to win the match.
Captain of RLCC, Prajeesh decided to be in party with Suleman to see his team off. He chipped in with a cameo, special mention to the timely sixer that he hit over long off and supported Suleman who already got into a destructive mode.
Suleman bashed the opponent bowlers with “no mercy” and the fielders had nothing much to do, but to measure the distance of his monster Sixers. He remained unbeaten on 113 runs from mere 62 balls. Hats off.
Well done team Kannur RLCC. Let’s gear up for the next match and prove to our opponents “we are battle-hardened ROYAL LEGENDS – ARCHETYPAL”

_*Story of the Match*_
Royal Legends dominated in every department of the game and literally sliced off the wings of Black Hawks who actually thought of soaring high and pounce on their opponents.
Winning the toss, Kannur RLCC Captain Prajeesh elected to bowl first that proved to be a wise decision. Taking advantage of the early morning dew and windy conditions, RLCC opening bowlers Unni and Hemin slaughtered the opponent’s batting lineup. Batsmen were left thinking in the middle when the ball hit the pitch like an arrow hitting the bull’s eye. Wickets were heaped in the initial six overs. The damage was already done.
Unni was unstoppable with his dreaded pace & precision and Hemin’s in-swingers combined with his uncompromising line & length kept the batsmen guessing.
After the low scoring initial six overs, it seemed the opponents were trying to hold their innings by scoring in single and rare boundaries. Kannur RLCC bowlers were in no mood to let off the momentum set by their opening bowling pair and they merely ran through the batting line up in style by bowling out the opponents for a mere 71 runs. Arun deceived the batsmen with his varying pace while Vishnu and Ramshad supported with a tight spell. KK who made a come-back in the team after a long interval tried hard to get his line and length right.
Chasing a target of 72, Kannur RLCC openers Suleiman and Saji started off in might smashing the wavering balling line up of the opponents. Ball travelled to the boundary all over the park in every over and the scoreboard was looking great in just a wink of an eye. Adding to the opponents’ agony Saji who was in tremendous nick, were gifted few life when he mis-queued his shots that found the fielder’s hands that spilled. Suleiman got caught after scoring quick fire sixteen. Hemin joined Saji in the middle to finish off the match and Kannur RLCC hit the target in mere 5.2 overs.
A well deserving, unchallenged Unni, was declared Man of the Match for his fiery bowling that cracked the Trivandrum Balck Hawks’ batting line up.
Well done Team Kannur RLCC and let’s get ready to hunt down our opponents, swift like a whistling breeze.

Dominancia Completa – Royal Victory for RLCC
RLCC completed their supremacy over Supernovans with a fantastic win in the final match of the series. RLCC, batting first, put up a fighting total of 229 runs.
RLCC made changes in the playing eleven resting their star batsmen Saji, Juffary and Sreejith. Ladeep and KK opened the innings for RLCC. Ladeep back in the side after a long interval easily found rhythm and caressed the ball through gaps for singles and doubles. He also scored occasional boundaries to keep the scoreboard ticking, he was finally out for 32 of 36 balls. KK gave away his wicket with a mistimed shot and ball landed in fielders hand before finding earth.
RLCC lost couple of wickets in quick succession and seemed heading towards ending their innings with their lowest total ever in this series. Priyesh chipped in with a handy 27 of 17 balls.
After the fall of 6th wicket and scoreboard showing 87 runs, Captain of RLCC – Prajeesh came into the middle. He made his intentions clear form the very first ball he faced by sending the ball across the boundary with a mighty blow.
“The Terminator” transformed once mere mediocre innings of RLCC to a decent total of 229 runs. Unlucky are those who missed this innings that will stay as a nightmare in the minds of Supernovan bowlers for ever. It was a display of sheer strength combined with wild beauty and determination. He scored his first ever century (108* of 30 balls) of his career in style to add to his baggage of numerous half-tons.
Supernova chasing the target of 230 runs in 20 overs, lost an early wicket. RLCC pacemen Unni and KK were at the top of their performance and Supernovan batsmen faced the wrath of their fierce pace. Ball hit the turf like cannon balls and travelled to the batsmen in lightening speed.
Supernovan star batsman Binoy once again fought against the odds and ended up scoring a wonderful half-ton in such distress situation even well acknowledged by the opposition. RLCC vice captain Arun made it even difficult for Supernova batsmen by varying his pace astutely. Lal, Sarath and Durgesh bowled with equanimity.
Anil was excellent behind the wickets and altogether it was a highly spirited team effort that snatched the victory form Supernovans.
Felicitaciones RLCC
