What is the leadership program thas has been a true game-changer for you?

Organizations in the GCC region are more and more aware of their need to work with their leadership teams. Wider programs and also bespoke interventions are in order and becoming the norm. You have to start from the top in order to cascade the right values to the whole company.

What are your views on Leadership development? How has your experience been so far?

The idea of "well-being" is a very personal experience. For many, being able to manage their personal finances also adds up to their mental peace. So, ask around what people truly need.

How's the energy of your team? Are they always running on "low battery"? Do you feel like there's always a "red light" flashing? Ensure their energy levels get recharged as often as possible, so they don't end up burn out and disrupting their own lives and the dynamics of the team.

UAE has traditionally been a transient place for many and business have operated focused on performance. Slowly and gradually, the human component is gaining importance and words like "empathy" or "compassion" are part of the vocabulary that leadership is using (and practicing).

What's your own experience within your present (or past) organization?

"We want a culture change but without showing we are doing a culture change". Are organizations afraid of admiting they need to brush up their culture? Is it so tough to expose yourself as in need of different values and ways to face the way you do business?

The "bolder" leaders step up saying blatantly they need a shift. Others- more conservative or still hesitant- come whispering for help, not knowing clearly where to start. That's already a brave step forward: you acknowledge something needs to be upgraded!

Mental health has come here to stay. But, in which grounds? What's the right context? Are we doing too little or too much? We had a very interesting discussion on what's working and what's not. We need to have an impact and to truly help employees.

Do you work with a "collection of people" or can you truly call it a TEAM?

More than ever, the last few years have exposed the lack of homogeneity and "heart" within many teams. A physical connection never equalled team integrity and fluidity. Companies have realized that it takes a lot more than belonging to the same "tribe" to really work smoothly and in harmony.

How do you achieve a seamless flow of work within your team? What's your "secret sauce" for a fabulous working recipe?

Wellbeing (mental and physical) is not an "add-on", but a sheer need. One of the discussion points we had within the HR Community was about the "trend", the priorities of companies in the Middle East. We can certainly notice the "urgency" and the focus on several topics. Wellness is certainly (very) high in the list.
