Obesity and other Cardio-Metabolic Disease had its ori- gins in England. This is due largely to the fact that England was initially the largest consumer of sugar in the world; America followed somewhat later as did other countries.
Increased production eventually made sugar affordable to
the common man. Once this happened, obesity and dia-
betes transitioned from being a disease of the wealthy to
being a disease of humankind. The rise in sugar intake per
capita increased almost 5x between 1700-1800 in England
but remained flat in France. This sugar intake peaked in the UK by early 2000. In some countries like China sugar intake is increasing 5% per year and will produce a tsunami of diabetes in the next decade.
Through the mid-nineteenth century diabetes remained a rare disease. As the father of modern medicine, Sir William Osler, reported in 1892: of 35,000 outpatients seen at John Hopkins Hos- pital in Baltimore, only 10 had been diagnosed with diabetes.

Increased insulin makes us fat
and keeps us fat. Increased insu-
lin comes primarily from sugar
and grains (and most processed
food) that are the cause of high
blood sugar levels.

Hyperinsulinemia is the root cause of insulin resistance, obe- sity, and diabetes – “DIABESITY” are manifestations of the same underlying problem: Hyperinsulinemia.

Hyperinsulinemia is determined by direct measurement. Insulin Resistance is a concept of insulin production.
