Vidath Direndra continues his outstanding batting form, with the rest of the team shining in their roles as Prince of Wales College secures a spot in the Semifinals of the SLCL Schools Cricket Championship Season 2 (2025) in the UAE.

Vidath currently tops the tournament’s batting leaderboard — and impressively, two of our Cambrians are ranked within the top three on the MVP leaderboard as well! 🔥🏏💛

🏆 We are the Bowl Champions of the 2nd Edition of Thomian Cricket Sixes – Hard Ball Tournament 2025! 🏏💥

We stumbled in our opening match against St. Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia, but we refused to stay down.
We came back stronger — winning against Isipathana College and St. Benedict’s College in the league stage.

In the Bowl Semi-Final, the team delivered a masterclass, scoring 61/0 in just 4.2 overs to secure a convincing win over Wesley College, Colombo. 💥🔥

Due to unavoidable circumstances, the Bowl Final vs. Nalanda College, Colombo was withdrawn — and we were crowned Joint Champions of the 2025 Thomian Cricket Extravaganza.

Regret Note – In Loving Memory of Mr. Suranga D Wijenayake

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the untimely passing of “Mr. Suranga D Wijenayake”, a proud alumnus of “Prince of Wales’ College, Moratuwa” and a distinguished school cricketer whose legacy continues to inspire generations.

Suranga made an indelible mark on the history of Cambrian cricket, etching his name into the record books during the iconic “Battle of the Golds” against St. Sebastian’s College in 1995, where he delivered a stunning performance of “7 wickets for 33 run”—the best-ever bowling figures by a Cambrian in the Big Match’s storied history since its inception in 1933.

A talented “right-hand batsman” and “left-arm leg-break bowler”, Suranga went on to represent “Kurunegala at domestic level” and was widely acknowledged for his potential at national level. His contributions on and off the field made him a cherished member of the cricketing fraternity and a proud symbol of the excellence nurtured at Prince of Wales’ College.

His loss is profoundly felt by his family, friends, and the entire cricketing and Cambrian community. May his memory live on through the lives he touched and the legacy he leaves behind on the pitch.

May he attain the supreme bliss of Nirvana.🙏🙏🙏
