If you’re only going by scale weight, You’re doing yourself an injustice.

Your fitness journey is so much more than the weight on the scale, because it doesn’t tell the full story.

It doesn’t differentiate between fat, muscle, water, or even food in your system. Someone could be getting leaner and stronger, but the scale might not change (or might even go up) because they’re gaining muscle while losing fat. This can be especially true for people who are strength training or just starting a new fitness routine.

Have you noticed any of the above list in yourself?

Together, these paint a much more accurate and empowering picture of progress than the scale alone.

Let me know your non-scale victories in the comments 👇🏼

I competed in my first Hyrox competition yesterday! Hyrox Middle East

I had heard about it, but wasn’t sure what exactly it was about, but thought it looked quite “fun” AKA tough! 🤣

I was hoping I could have done it with a partner, with it being my first one, but ended up signing up solo.

Was a great day and good vibe all around. Was tough though I cannot lie! 😅 and my head has been pounding since!

It made me realise certain areas I would definitely need to improve on if I ever did it again.

Which is definitely cardio and endurance. Two things I don’t really do. So that means more running for me.

There’s also definitely some tactics where I could have got a quicker time if I knew what I was doing.

But really my aim was to just complete it without having an asthma attack. Job done 🤣✅

Although I was nearly sick in the bin 🚮 🤦🏼‍♀️

And I was shouting “I NEED A TISSUE 😩” to whilst she was filming me dying from doing the 80m broad jump burpees 🤣

There were definitely times were I was having a “FML” moment and wondered why on earth I wanted to put myself through this and thought I don’t ever wanna do this AGAIN!!
And now I’m out the other end Im already thinking of how can I do that better! 😂

I managed to come 25th in the women’s and then 10th in my age group. So pretty proud of myself for that!

There’s some amazing athletes out there! That got such amazing times that makes me want to improve my time! 👏🏼👏🏼

Want to say massive Thanks to my girls for supporting me! As they really did help me get through it. Knowing they were there all the way with me, thinking I’m a lunatic 🤪😂🥰

Whether you lose weight or not...

Think about the benefits you’ll see from doing those things.

The health benefits.

The confidence.

The sense of feeling ready to take on just about anything.

And once you have these habits in place - adding a calorie deficit will suddenly feel far more manageable.

Are you ready to take on 2024? 🙌🏼

My main goal is to be healthy and strong, inside and out! ✅ 🙌🏼💪🏼

There’s not much weight difference between all of the pics but I’ve had a completely different mindset in all of them.

Pic 1️⃣- training everyday, sometimes 3 times a day. Never gave myself a rest day. Running, boxing, weights, bootcamp, spin, HIIT etc. twice ended up in hospital as struggled to breathe due to inflamed intercostal muscles from over training!
I gave myself One cheat meal a week. Avoided social events. Ate low carb. Periods around every 3 months maybe. Lifestyle was not sustainable.

Pic 2️⃣ - I moved countries still over training, lots of cardio, strength training, lots of HIIT. Limited rest days and this was only because I was Highly stressed with working 3 jobs and full time study. So there was no time for it. Lived off chicken/salmon brocolli, sweet potato, rice and then ended up bingeing on everything, then would try burn it off with all the exercise.
Completely lost my period cycle for 18 months!

Pic 3️⃣ - balanced lifestyle, incorporating all different styles of training, but predominantly weights and yoga and get steps in. Also doing different enjoyable activities. I rest 2-3 days a week. I Eats LOTS of carbs but also a very balanced meals with protein and fats always making sure I have varied diet. I won’t miss your birthday as I enjoy cake 🎂 😉

It’s easier for me to maintain healthy weight in pic 3, give or take a few kgs depending on if I’ve eaten a little “too much” 😅 or it’s time of the month. Much more sustainable and enjoyable.
Our bodies change so much over the years and I’ve learnt so much about my body, what works for me and what doesn’t, especially things I would never do again.

If you feel like you’re not happy with your situation and want to make changes, don’t be afraid to try. You can always reach out to someone that understands. You’re not alone in this 😘❤️
