*** ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE ***

Road closures extended till 12pm.

We have received your concerns about safety and extended road closures to 12pm (4 hours total).

Any riders taking longer than 4 hours may still finish the course.
We have marshals and commissaries on the course to look after the riders.
In addition, there is limited traffic in Liwa.

From Abu Dhabi: Approx 250km

There are two service stations on your journey to Liwa.
One on the E11, just before turning off onto the E45.

**RACE PACK COLLECTION**

This is on the way down the E45 and everyone driving to Tilal Liwa Hotel, Liwa Hotel or the camp will pass this hotel.
We strongly advise collecting the race packs on Thursday to avoid queues for collection before the start on Friday morning.

**TIMING**
HOPASPORTS Timing will provide the timing chip for the ADCO Liwa Cycling Challenge. You will receive this chip plus instruction in your race pack.
Preliminary timing will be available shortly after you cross the line.
You will receive a link to the official results from HopaSports via email as soon as these become available on Friday 22nd. Results will then also be available on www.hopasports.com


**CAMPING**
A camping area is set up by Tel Moreeb and the start/finish line. Each tent holds 4-6 people and they are free to book.
Tents must be booked in advance by email to [email protected] Please specify number of people and number of children.
All tents will be allocated and numbered and you will receive your allocated number by event organizers on site when you arrive.
There are full bathroom facilities including showers and hot water at the campsite.
The ‘floor’ of the tent is covered but we recommend that you bring your own inflatable mattresses, bedding and sleeping bags / pillows.
You can also bring your own tent to set up in the camp.
Animals are not permitted in the campground.
There is a playground for kids in the area.

**CATERING**
There will be free snacks/catering on the campsite for the riders and their guests.
Thursday evening – Dinner (6-10pm)
Friday morning – Breakfast (from 6am)
After the race:
Lunch/snacks will be provided by the start/finish line.

Thank you to our sponsors for their generosity in providing this. The campsite is a wonderful friendly setup with campfires, social spots and is safe and secure.

Organisers will make a camp fire where riders and guests can relax.
You are also permitted to bring your own food and drink supplies.

**ONSITE STORE**
There is a convenience store on site that sells incidentals’ including water, wood etc.

**FREE BIKES TO BORROW AND RIDE IN THE CHALLENGE**
Fun Ride Sports will be present by Tel Moreeb / Start line with 100 bikes (50 road bike and 50 fitness bikes) available to borrow and ride free of charge at the challenge.
Details as following:
- Opening times: Friday 22nd January; 6am-8pm
- Location: By Tel Moreeb / the startline – Look for the branded ‘Fun Ride Sports’ tent
- All bikes have flat pedals (you will need to bring your own cleat pedals)
- Bike sizes: Small to large
- Helmets provided by Fun Ride Sports
- Fun Ride Sports staff will be present on site to help with general bike fitting and mechanical issues
- No need to book in advance, just show up in the morning and sign out your bike with the Fun Ride Sports staff. PLEASE ALLOW SUFFICIENT TIME to potentially wait for staff to become available and to fit the bike.
- What to bring yourself: Sufficient fuel (water and nutrition)

**RACE START TIMES**
8:00am - Elite Men, Masters Men, Veteran Men, 100K
8:05am - Elite Women, Masters Women, Veteran Women, 100K
8:30am - Beginner Men, Beginner Women, Youth 12-15, 40K
8:45am - Junior 6-11, 8K

All athletes need to line up at the start line approximately 10 minutes before the start time. There will be a start line race briefing.

**SAFETY**
Helmets must be worn. No helmet, no ride.
No iPods or music is to be worn whilst racing. This is for both you and your fellow competitors’ safety.
Please make sure you carry enough food and fluid.
TT Bikes or Aero Bars are permitted, HOWEVER, triathlon non-drafting rules will apply. Any riders on tri bikes or aero bars will start behind the riders on road bikes and may not at any time mix with these riders. Riders seen by commissars riding on aero bars in a group or peloton may be disqualified. This is for the safety of all riders.
WEAR SUN LOTION.

**FUEL/WATER STATIONS ON THE COURSE**
There will be 20 fuel stations on the course supplying riders with water, juices and bananas.


**SUPPORT CARS**
Teams will be allowed a support car that can follow the majority of their riders. Team cars need to be registered in advance:

On Friday morning collection of car stickers will be in the Liwa Office from 5:30am.
They will need to follow Federation Race Rules and listen to any instruction from the commissaries.
There are NO neutral support cars. Each rider is responsible for being self sufficient during the challenge and must bring their own repair / puncture kit.

**ROAD CLOSURES**
The roads will be fully closed to traffic 7:30am - 11am. Riders not able to finish by 11am may still finish the course.

**MEDICAL ASSISTANCE**
There will be medical support on the course. Please ensure that you carry one form of ID on your ride in case of a medical emergency. We recommend that you carry the name and contact phone number of your Emergency Contact as well.

** PRIZE CEREMONY**
We will start at 11am and be finished by 11:25am

Please stay in the Moreeb Dune area and support all the races – relax and enjoy the beauty of the area with friends and family.
