Cold air. Choppy water. Ada Ciganlija in its rawest form.
The conditions weren't on our side last weekend - but that's exactly what made it matter. The challenge doesn't get easier when everything works against you. It just gets more honest.
You can't control the skies. You can only control whether you show up.
And when you finish, soaked, cold, and somehow smiling, you remember exactly what you're made of. The training is worth it. Every single session.
Thanx π· .foto

Imagine plunging into the most ancient, deepest, and most mesmerizing freshwater lake on the planet. A place so unique it has to be seen to be believed.
This is X-WATERS Baikal 2026. And you're invited to not just visit it, but to swim through its legendary waters.
π The oldest (30 million years) and deepest (up to 1,642m) lake on Earth. Holds 20% of the world's unfrozen freshwater, more than all the North American Great Lakes combined. Water so pure and oxygen-rich that visibility reaches tens of meters. A place of incredible beauty: "The Sacred Sea," "The Blue Eye of Siberia," "The Diamond of the Planet"
This is not just a swim. It's a pilgrimage to a natural wonder that everyone should see at least once in their life. And you? You won't just see it from the shore, you'll feel it from within.
π Choose your distance for July 19, 2026, starting from the stunning Kurma Bay β one of the warmest and most picturesque spots on the lake.
π 1 Baikal Mile (1.6km): A fantastic way to experience the lake's diverse conditions. The course loops around a giant bird-inhabited rock island, with depths changing up to 90 meters below you.
π 500m: A great introduction to Baikal's cool, clear waters.
βοΈ One Important Note: Yes, Baikal is famous for being cold. Even in the warmest part of July, the water temperature is unpredictable - it can reach 22Β°C (72Β°F), but can also drop to 12Β°C (54Β°F) or lower. Come prepared, and you'll be rewarded with an unforgettable feeling of achievement.
Come to see the "Sacred Sea." Come to test your spirit. Come to do something you'll tell stories about for the rest of your life.

Did you know that swimming is a powerhouse of performance? Before you next dive in, consider these mind-blowing statistics:
π₯ An hour of swimming can burn between 700 and 1,000 calories, that's more than running or cycling at the same intensity! π±
πͺ It uses nearly every muscle in your body - approximately 80% of your muscle mass is engaged.
π€― Water is nearly 800 times denser than air, creating intense natural resistance.
benchmark: Elite swimmers can finish 1 km in under 15 minutes!
Whatβs your focus? Speed? Distance? Or just the sheer feeling of power?
How fast will YOU go? Challenge yourself at X-WATERS Belgrade and write your own statistical story.

Never been to Belgrade in May? Time to fix that.
Here are 5 reasons why this city, this month, should be on your radar.
1. May is the weather you actually want
Around 20Β°C, flowers in bloom, cafΓ© terraces open, and the summer crowds still weeks away. By July it hits 38Β° and the city bakes. In May it's made for wandering with nowhere to be.
2. Kalemegdan Fortress is something else
You stand on ancient walls and watch the Sava meet the Danube below. A fortress that survived Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and Habsburg rule - still standing, still free to enter. No tickets. No queues. Just you and centuries of history.
3. Skadarlija: one evening, hooked for life
Cobbled streets, colourful buildings, live folk music spilling out onto the pavement, and rakija poured like you're an old friend of the house. The kind of place you suddenly understand why people keep coming back to Belgrade.
4. The Nikola Tesla Museum
Personal artefacts, original blueprints, working instruments you can actually touch. If you have even a passing interest in science or history, this one's unmissable.
5. Easy to reach, no visa required
Direct flights from most European cities in under 3 hours. EU citizens enter visa-free. Serbs are famously warm and welcoming, you feel at home from the first hour. One of the most hassle-free and genuinely warm destinations on the continent right now.
π₯π₯Bonus reason: the one that seals it
On 17 May, Belgrade hosts the X-WATERS international open water swim
Right in the heart of the city, on Ada Ciganlija, "Belgrade's Sea", a lake with 7 km of clean shoreline. Distances from 500m to 5 km, beach start, swimmers from dozens of countries. Come for the weekend: race, explore the fortress, stay out late in Skadarlija. The perfect May trip.
