The HEAT CHECK 15U/18U Summer 5v5 Basketball Tournament is here, bringing together young athletes to compete, grow, and stand united under the Playing for Peace / Praying for Peace Movement.

The Smith’s ICT & Security Services sponsored Hope through Hoops 13U tournament came to a close last Thursday evening at the Rodney M. Rey Auditorium.

In the 3rd place game, Jr. Hoyas missing some of their key players were a bit undersized and he Raptors took advantage finishing the game 26-15 to claim a 3rd place finish in this year’s tournament.

In the Championship game, Ballerz did their best to hang around but Stingrays came out aggressive and determined to repeat as back to back champions pulling off a comfortable 26 - 12 victory.

Awards were given out to players as voted by the coaches, referees & scorers as follows:
Jr. Hoyas MVP: Jalen Willock
Raptors MVP: Tishon Stay
Ballerz MVP: Collanjay Joseph
Stingrays MVP: Taye Hughes
Tournament MVP: Taye Hughes
Most Disciplined Player: Jalen Willock

The tournament would certainly not be possible without our coaches Christophe Connor-Carty, Cuthbert Jackson, Rudy Webster, McKadin Webster, Neil Gumbs & Jaiden Laurent.

We also appreciate the photography of Shryan Webster, the streaming services of Klean Stream, and the color commentary provided by Mr. Merrick Richardson. We look forward to next year’s 10th anniversary of the tournament which will definitely be a special one.

The Anguilla Amateur Basketball Association would like to officially thank The Anguilla Craft Group for their donation of balls, shoes, training bibs, a scoreboard, and especially an AI-powered camera for the benefit of our players and the continued development of the sport.

At 5:00 in game 1 the Raptors take on the Jr. Hoyas for 3rd place. Then at 5:45 The Ballerz will try to prevent the 2025 champions Stingrays from going back to back.

As the tournament breaks for the finals tomorrow, today will feature 3 exhibition games with the primary aged players from Ballerz, Jr. Hoyas & Raptors. Come out to the Rodney M. Rey Auditorium to support our youngsters.

The pool games are complete and Ballerz sit at the top of the standings having narrowly defeated 2nd place Stingrays on day 1 and winning all their other games comfortably. In 3rd place Jr Hoyas were able to steal their first game vs Raptors with 2 clutch 3s to close the game and secure their sole tournament win.

This means that tomorrow Thursday July 23rd, Jr. Hoyas will take on Raptors for 3rd place followed by the championship game where Ballers will try to stop the reigning champions Stingrays from going back to back. The action begins at 5:00 pm at the Rodney M. Rey Auditorium and will be streamed by Klean Stream.

At the end of the championship there will be a brief prize giving ceremony where trophies and medals provided by our title sponsor Smith’s ICT & Security Sevices will be distributed.
