Most riders shopping for a new bike think it comes down to trail or enduro. But for a significant number of riders — including experienced ones who've done the honest assessment — there's a third category that outperforms both across the widest range of what Australian trails actually demand.
New post is live on the Modern Savage blog. We worked through all of it — what separates the categories, why the EWS content you're watching doesn't reflect where most of us ride, when enduro geometry actually earns its place, and the questions worth asking honestly before you spend $4-15k.

Before you touch your suspension settings, check your tyres.
Tyre pressure quietly shapes how the whole bike behaves — how feedback reaches the suspension, how quickly it gets loaded, how the bike feels when you brake or lean.
If that first stage isn't right, no amount of suspension tuning will completely fix it.
Most "bad suspension" complaints start here.

Before you spend $3k–$15k on a bike, it's worth asking one question:
Is this actually the right bike for your style, how and where you ride?
A Modern Savage Suitability Assessment gives you a structured, honest answer — based on your riding style, terrain, and goals.
Not reviews. Not spec sheets. Not what's in stock.

"I probably just need more travel."
It's one of the most common conclusions riders reach when a bike doesn't feel right. And it makes sense on the surface — more travel should mean more comfort.
But in practice, adding travel doesn't always solve the problem. Sometimes it makes it harder to find.
We unpacked why in our latest piece. Link in bio.
