Absolutely cracking sunrise captured by our Greenkeeper Brad this morning!!

What a way to start the day out on the course.

The Glenelg Golf Club - Course Maintenance Team stepped up again this long weekend to prepare the course for the women’s qualifying round of the Australian Open Golf.

With the rainfall that we received last week coupled with solid cultural turf programs has the course looking and playing a treat!

Well done to the team for coming in on a long weekend to show the course in its best possible light!

It’s not every day that a three-time major winner like Minjee Lee is on our practice fairway, fine-tuning her game ahead of the Australian Women’s Open at Kooyonga Golf Club this March.

Working alongside Ryan Lumsden, Minjee kindly took the time to grab a photo with our Course Maintenance team.
As a “former” course record holder here at Glenelg (pre course construction), we can’t wait for the day that you return to regain your record! 😉

Best of luck at Kooyonga in March, Minjee! 👏⛳

Last week we were pleased to introduce our annual Course Maintenance Team photo, recognising the hardworking team who keep our course in top condition year-round and completed the 18 hole construction.

To round out the week, our Greenkeeping team enjoyed their Christmas Show at the Edwardstown Bowling Club, a great opportunity to celebrate another successful year together.

We would like to thank the members of Glenelg Golf Club for your patience throughout the construction period. We hope you’re able to enjoy the course and wish you all a wonderful festive season.

🏆 2025 Keepers Cup!

We held our annual Keepers Cup on Friday at Mount Compass Golf Club, and what a day it was!

Big congratulations to the underdogs, Tyler, Brenton and Sophie, who surprised everyone (including themselves!) as this year’s champions!

Last year’s winners, Tim and Kingsley, also took home some silverware… for coming last!

A huge thanks to our friends at Mount Compass Golf Club for hosting us. Always a great day out for our greenies team! 🌿⛳️

First Green STEM: Beyond the Classroom

In collaboration with ASTMA and the Department for Education, we proudly hosted our very first First Green STEM workshop with 20 enthusiastic students from Banksia Park International High School.

The day kicked off with an introduction to the world of turf management from our Superintendent, Tim Warren, before students rotated through three workstations:
💧 Water Usage & Conservation with Tim Warren
🚜 Mowing Magic inside our Mechanical Shed with 2IC Adam Fry and Mechanic Tim Cowin
🛠 Tools on the Green – with Chris McCullough from ASTMA and Senior Assistant Susan Oliveira.

We wrapped up with a fun closest to the hole challenge and plenty of smiles all round!

What a great way to connect students with hands-on learning and the turf industry.

Please contact Lauren at [email protected] if your school would be interested.

VGR TopChanger XP Demonstration

We had the pleasure of hosting a demonstration of the VGR TopChanger XP at Glenelg Golf Club last week.

This innovative turf aerator uses high-pressure water technology to create holes in the soil while simultaneously injecting sand, fertilisers, and soil-improving products. The result is a healthier, more sustainable turf and improved soil conditions with impressive efficiency all carried out with minimal disruption lessening the impact on playability. As a result, the putting surfaces are playable straight after use!

Thank you to Ruud de Deugd, Managing Director of VGR Equipment, all the way from Holland and Brent McPherson from DURAMEGA for the demonstration and for showcasing the future of turf care! Glenelg Golf Club Glenelg Golf Club - Course Maintenance Team

We’re proud to have donated the turf from our 7th green to Tanunda Golf Club as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability. Last winter, we were equally excited to repurpose the turf from our former 15th green, giving it a new lease on life at Mawson Lakes Golf Club. It’s incredibly rewarding to support smaller clubs with limited resources and see practical, sustainable solutions making a real difference.

Green Adelaide Grant

With the welcome rain it means that we can start our annual revegetation program in earnest!
Plants have been batched and picked up from Tree For Life through our Green Adelaide Grant and will be planted out over the coming months.

Last week planting commenced around the 17th green and this week work will begin along the 8th boundary over the newly constructed mounding.
Fingers crossed for continued rain!

As the sun rises over the 13th hole, our greenkeeper cuts through the early morning dew, leaving precise lines across the green. It's a quiet reminder of the work that begins well before first light to prepare the course for the day ahead. The soft glow across the fairways highlights a moment of calm beauty that most never get to see.
