💫 FAQ: What should I wear to class?
Short answer: wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and ready to move.
Most people choose activewear - like a t-shirt or singlet with leggings or tracksuit pants - that allows them to move freely without getting in the way.
Some dancers love wearing leotards and tights, but this is completely optional. There’s no dress code and no pressure to look a certain way - just something that lets you move comfortably and safely.
The key is to avoid anything too loose that might restrict movement or become a tripping hazard.
And if you’re wondering what 'normal' looks like… well, every class is a mix - and sometimes, it even includes a little accidental coordination like this leopard moment 🐆😉
Whatever you wear, you’ll fit right in.

💫 Class Update – ANZAC Day
In honour of ANZAC Day, there will be no classes on Saturday 25 April.
ANZAC Day is a time for reflection, remembrance, and deep respect. At Dragonfly Dance, we value respect not only as part of this day, but as something we carry into everything we do.
Respect for those who served and sacrificed.
Respect for the stories, history, and experiences that shape our community.
Respect for one another in the studio - meeting each person where they are, supporting different journeys, and creating a space where everyone feels safe, seen, and welcome.
Taking this day to pause is one small way we can honour that value.
We’ll be back in the studio on Monday, ready to move together again.
Lest we forget. 🌺

💫 This Is My Community
Somewhere along the way, it stops feeling like just a class… and starts to feel like your place.
You recognise familiar faces. You chat before class. You laugh when things go wrong and celebrate when they go right.
This is the part of the journey that people don’t always expect - how quickly dance can become more than movement. It becomes connection.
At Dragonfly Dance, our studios are built on encouragement, kindness, and shared experience. Everyone remembers what it felt like to be new, which is why support comes so naturally here.
You’re not just learning steps - you’re surrounded by people who cheer you on, lift you up, and make you feel like you belong.
Friendships form in between combinations. Confidence grows in a room full of people who want to see you succeed. And showing up each week starts to feel like catching up with your community.
This is more than dance. This is your space, your people, your time. 💜

A mirror ball, a microphone… and a pair of cowboy boots walk into a studio… 🪩🎤🤠
On Friday 19 June, something is brewing.
We’re not saying exactly what yet. But if you’ve ever wanted to:
- sing a little louder than usual
- move in a way that doesn’t require a turnout check
- or find yourself laughing with people you usually only share a barre with
…you might want to keep this night free.
This isn't a class or a performance, but something else. A social event to give us all the time to have fun, unwind, and get turn classmates into friends. Can you guess what it might involve?
📅 Save the date: Friday 19 June

💫 World Art Day
Today we celebrate creativity in all its forms - the kind you hang on walls, and the kind you express with your body.
Dance is art in motion. Every time you step into the studio, you’re creating. Exploring shapes, rhythm, expression, and your own unique way of moving through the world.
There’s no 'right' way to create art in dance. It’s personal, evolving, and shaped by your experience - which makes it even more powerful.
So today, we celebrate all the dancers who are creating something every time they move.
You don’t have to be an artist to start dancing… but you might just discover you are one. 💜
You can try two classes for the price of one with our 2-for-1 pass.
Booking is simple - visit www.dragonflydance.com.au/timetable/book

💫 “I’m Doing This”
You signed up. You showed up. And now… you’re doing it.
Your first term isn’t about getting everything right - it’s about discovering what you’re capable of. Week by week, things start to click. Steps feel more familiar. Your body begins to remember. And movements that once felt impossible start to feel… achievable.
You might notice the small wins:
✨ Picking up a combination a little faster
✨ Feeling stronger and more coordinated
✨ Letting go and enjoying the music
✨ Walking out of class feeling proud of yourself.
This is where progress lives - consistency. Every class you attend is building something: confidence, skill, and a deeper connection to yourself. And the best part? You’re surrounded by people on the same journey, all figuring it out together.
If you’ve been wondering whether you made the right choice…you did.
Keep showing up. You’re doing better than you think. 💜

✨ Teacher Feature: Belinda Cooper ✨
Meet Belinda, one of our Contemporary teachers 👯♀️
Belinda brings her creativity and love of teaching to every class. She focuses on building a solid foundation, like contraction and release, lots of parallel work, and helping students move across the floor. "For me, it’s not always about teaching a full phrase right away but about helping them develop the strength and confidence to run before they walk."
Dance has been a lifelong passion for Belinda. Her love of being on stage began at age 5 when she won her first eisteddfod singing a song called ‘Golden Wattle’. She started dancing at the age of seven with jazz dance, though contemporary was always in the mix since her teacher was a former member of the Sydney Dance Company. Her weekends as a teenager were spent square dancing. Belinda participated in dance workshops at the Sydney Opera House and then went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts (Dance) at Nepean. Since moving to Adelaide she has become a passionate supporter of an AFL team - Power!
Belinda thrives in Dragonfly Dance’s welcoming and respectful environment. Belinda enjoys tailoring classes so everyone can enjoy and grow, whether you’re new to dance, returning after years away, or experienced.
📅 Come dance with Belinda on Saturdays and experience the joy of Contemporary dance for yourself 💜
