Recently had the opportunity to put the new Miller MigMatic MP400iP through its paces. A 400Amp multiprocess machine rated at 100% duty cycle with synergic Pulse and Double Pulse MIG capabilities.

I ran Double Pulse on 3mm aluminium and Single Pulse on 6mm stainless, both producing clean welds, great arc control and minimal cleanup.

The push-pull gun was particularly good on aluminium and the pulse settings made it easy to achieve a TIG-like finish while reducing heat input and getting the productivity benefits of MIG.

The synergic setup is straightforward to dial in, with plenty of adjustment available to fine tune the arc. Being able to save weld programs and switch between them from the torch trigger is also a handy feature when moving between different jobs.

Definitely worth a look if weld appearance and productivity are both priorities.

Testing out the new Diablo Carbide Hole Saw Set courtesy of diablotoolsanz
Good range of sizes in the kit. Carbide teeth for cutting a wide range of materials and handle up to 60mm cutting depth.
The Snap-Lock Plus system also makes changing hole saws and clearing plugs much faster and less painful.
The modular case leaves plenty of flexibility to add and arrange different sizes as needed.

While inspecting a customer's car for intercooler work, I noticed what looked like a crack in a recently installed downpipe.
On closer inspection, there were holes in the welds, unwelded seams, and no purge during welding.
Given the heat cycling a downpipe endures, this would likely have failed in a few months. I cleaned it up, added filler material, and purged it without needing to cut it apart, saving the customer extra costs.

Custom 2-1 Stainless Exhaust System.
Getting the pipes to sweep into the collector at the same arc was a timely process but worth it for a smooth transition.
Retention springs and muffler mount hidden on the backside of the exhaust to keep things looking clean.
