Magnetic V Blocks 🤝 Tube WorkBillet-machined from 6061 aluminium with a red anodized finish and equipped with a 5kg pull-force neodymium magnet. Designed to hold round stock in place and evenly distribute clamping force, preventing tube distortion and clamp slippage. With a 1mm deep recessed base to keep the V block centred and stable on the clamp pad. While inspecting a customer's car for intercooler work, I noticed what looked like a crack in a recently installed downpipe.

On closer inspection, there were holes in the welds, unwelded seams, and no purge during welding.

Given the heat cycling a downpipe endures, this would likely have failed in a few months. I cleaned it up, added filler material, and purged it without needing to cut it apart, saving the customer extra costs.

Getting the pipes to sweep into the collector at the same arc was a timely process but worth it for a smooth transition.

Retention springs and muffler mount hidden on the backside of the exhaust to keep things looking clean.
