Meet ‘Dave’ (not his real name), the ultimate meditation sceptic. When he signed up for my recent “Sleep Better with Meditation” course, he openly called meditation “woo-woo”, identified as a non-believer and swore he wouldn’t fall for the whole thing. But hey, desperate for sleep, he gave it a shot anyway.
Fast forward 10 minutes into our very first guided meditation, and guess what? Dave was OUT COLD. Snoring quietly in his chair with a seriously slumped head.
The next week, same thing, asleep before the guided meditation even finished. When he finally admitted he was shocked at how well it worked, I smiled quietly to myself and laughed on the inside with joy. Sometimes, the biggest meditation sceptics end up being the biggest believers. 😂

A VERY SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!
Congratulating the 2025 winners of the ACMM Julie Bond-Rowe award for courage, kindness and the spirit of mindfulness. This year there were 12 nominees for this beautiful award. All worthy in their own right.
The winners announced Monday at the Community Meditation Evening were: Jen Hill (ACMM mentor & Diploma graduate) and Carolina Gonzalez (ACMM Graduate and Diploma Student).
The JBR award was established in 2024, in honour of Julie who served the ACMM community in so many ways for over 10 years. She was instrumental in growing ACMM alongside me and I absolutely loved working with her, both as a colleague and loyal friend.

The nominations for this award come from within our student and graduate community, and the recipient/s are decided by who receives the most nominations. Deep congratulations to all the nominees and honouring each and every one for their heart led endeavours.
JEN: (Right Brain Liaisons) This award is a testament to Jen's commitment, growth, presence and openness. She is so loved by the ACMM community, her students and the team. Jen facilitates in ACMM retreats, and has originated mindfulness retreats at ACMM. She facilitates the practice evenings for students and mentors several electives. Jen is known for her gentleness, support and encouragement of students. CAROLINA: (Carolina Gonzalez Mindfulness) is doing such a brave and wonderful job in her mindfulness teaching and coaching work empowering women to embrace their inner authority. She shows real commitment to being of service to others, and this shines through with authenticity and love in everything she offers. Carolina demonstrates openness, honesty and heart centered holding in all she does.
I would also like to extend my deep gratitude to all those who took the time to vote, to the wonderful ACMM team and to everyone in the community. I want to acknowledge that doing the ACMM training and getting out there as a meditation teacher is always an act of courage, vulnerability and generosity in everyone.
