On Saturday Matthew made the walk out for his 35th fight for Rikers.
First time fighting in Queensland up against the home town hero Jonathan Aluilu in the main event for not only the WBC Oceania strap but also the Number one spot in the 70kg Australian rankings.

Matthew put on a show for the crowd as usual landing some big punches, kicks, knees and elbows against the tough Somoan who wore it all and kept coming forward landing his own big punches and kicks unfortunately the decision didn’t go our way this time but now sets up a highly anticipated third fight between the top two ranked 70kg fighters in Australia with it one a piece.

Congratulations Jonathon and good luck representing Oceania in the K-1 Max next month in Japan.

The venue was amazing with 2000 fans one side and the river with palm trees on the other.

Congratulations on his win on the weekend
Making his amateur debut as an adult after turning 18 recently.
He had to work around a few injuries in the lead up but did well to use his teeps and foot work to avoid the clinch and displayed balance by not getting swept when getting kicks caught.
He’s one of many young guys at our gym that have crossed over from playing soccer to Muay Thai and display a high level of fitness with natural kicking ability making our job a lot easier. 🙏

One month before the long awaited rematch.
Main event on the biggest show has ever put on.

Dont expect any trash talk from these guys they’re both professional athletes and humble family men that do their talking in the ring.
Their fight records, list of opponents and international experience speaks for itself.

has been itching to fight all year but unable to get matches so finally gets to release that frustration in four weeks. 👊🏼

We had two of our guys matched .berlangieri having his second fight in a month winning another unanimous decision.
kalogeras also having his second fight losing a split points decision. Both guys have a lot of talent and know what to work on at training for next time.

Next up for a Full Thai rules fight 5x3 as Main Event in Melbourne next month.
He’ll be taking on a 200 fight veteran and the former Thai Fight Champion who is coming fresh off a win in Perth last week.
