🎣 DAUTH PARK FISHING CLUB
🐟 FRIDAY FISHING REPORT
πŸ“… 23 October 2026

🐟 WHAT’S BITING AROUND OUR LOCAL WATERS?

It’s been a wet and windy week across Southeast Queensland, but there are still fish to be found for those who can get out safely!

πŸ“ JUMPINPIN & JACOBS WELL

🎣 Flathead are still featuring in local reports, particularly around the southern Jumpinpin system, sandbanks and shallow flats near South Stradbroke Island.

🐟 Whiting, trevally, tailor and threadfin salmon have also been reported, along with the occasional mulloway around Jumpinpin Bar.

A few decent flathead have even been caught around Jacobs Well jetty!

πŸ“ LOGAN & ALBERT RIVERS

πŸ¦€ Mud crabs have been reported in the Logan River.

With recent rainfall, anglers targeting fish may want to concentrate around creek mouths, structure and areas where cleaner and discoloured water meet.

πŸ“ SOUTHERN MORETON BAY

🎣 Bream, whiting and flathead are worthwhile species to target around the islands, channels and sandbanks.

Try fishing the edges of the banks on a moving tide, using prawns, yabbies or soft plastics.

πŸ“ GOLD COAST BROADWATER

🐟 Whiting have been a highlight in recent reports, with bream, flounder and flathead also appearing in catches.

Trevally are another option, particularly around current lines and structure.

πŸ¦€ Sand crabs and occasional mud crabs have also been reported.

πŸͺ± BAIT & LURE TIPS

🦐 Prawns and yabbies – great options for whiting and bream.

🎣 Soft plastics – try working them slowly along drop-offs and sandy edges for flathead.

🐟 Small metal lures – worth trying when tailor or trevally are actively feeding.

🌧️ WEATHER & WATER CONDITIONS

The weekend is looking unsettled, with showers, possible thunderstorms and moderate to fresh northerly winds forecast.

Recent rainfall may also affect water clarity and river currents.

⚠️ All members should check the latest BOM marine forecasts, tides, weather warnings and local conditions before heading out and continue monitoring conditions while fishing.

🎣 FISHING TIP OF THE WEEK

After heavy rain, look for areas where cleaner saltwater meets discoloured river water. These transition zones can sometimes concentrate baitfish and attract predators.

πŸ“Έ SHARE YOUR FISHING ADVENTURES!

Whether you land a beauty, lose the big one or just enjoy being on the water, we’d love to see your photos!

Remember, it’s not always about the biggest fish β€” sometimes it’s the stories that make the best memories! πŸ˜‚

Stay safe, enjoy the weekend and tight lines everyone!

🎣 FIRST FISHING COMPETITION OF THE SEASON! 🎣

🌧️ A little rain won’t dampen the excitement of a new fishing season!

It’s time to kick off the 2026–2027 Dauth Park Fishing Club season with Competition 1 and Weigh-In 1! 🐟

πŸ“… Competition starts Friday – 6:00am

πŸ” Sunday BBQ Lunch – 1:00pm

βš–οΈ Sunday Weigh-In – 3:00pm

We’re looking forward to another fantastic season of fishing, friendly competition, great catches and plenty of laughs!

🌧️ FISHING IN THE WET – FISH SAFE, FISH SMART! 🎣

With wet weather around, we encourage all members to take extra care when heading out fishing.

Here are a few handy reminders:

🎣 Check the conditions: Keep an eye on weather forecasts, warnings and radar before heading out and regularly throughout your fishing trip. Conditions can change quickly!

⚑ Watch for lightning: Thunderstorms can develop suddenly. If thunder starts rumbling, get off the water and seek safe shelter.

πŸ§₯ Dress for the weather: Waterproof clothing, non-slip footwear and a spare set of dry clothes can make a big difference.

🐟 Finding the fish: Rain can wash food into creeks and estuaries. Creek mouths, drains and changes in water colour can be productive fishing spots when conditions are safe.

🚀 Boaties: Check your bilge pump, navigation lights and safety equipment. Be mindful of floating debris, strong currents and reduced visibility following heavy rain.

πŸ’š YOUR SAFETY IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!

Fishing in wet weather is a personal decision. All members are responsible for checking weather conditions before heading out and monitoring them throughout their fishing trip.

Please use your own judgement, know your limits and make sensible decisions based on the conditions.

No fish, competition points or prize is worth risking your safety or the safety of others!

🎣 Whether you’re chasing that winning fish or simply enjoying some time on the water, we hope everyone has a fantastic start to the season!

Good luck to all our anglers, stay safe and tight lines! 🐟🎣
