An extra 20 logs have been deployed into Lake Eppalock to increase fish habitat for millions of Murray cod and yellas we’ve stocked in recent years! The Ozfish project has been supported by $80,000 of your fishing licence fees, with KINA Diving using their underwater prowess to secure the logs and root balls to submerged trees so they don’t move, and the Campaspe Loddon Ozfish chapter and Midland & North Central Angling Association for their helping hands! Well that’s what Lake Eppalock scored today, in the middle of another bumper fish stocking season.
While the Aussie men’s team tackles India in the fourth test, our Snobs Creek crew has produced a 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘴 delivery of their own.
It’s more about gold than green though, because we sent down 84,000 yellas to take Eppalock’s total this season to more than 460,000.
We reckon it’s an effort worth raising the bat for, in addition to 275,000 cod! That average is better than Bradman’s 😉

There’s sure to be some classic catches in this lot, so when you’re keen for a spin – and not the Nathan Lyon kind – Eppalock will be worth a shot for many years to come.

The future’s looking bright for Lake Eppalock with another stocking of 81,100 Murray cod today, bringing its total for this season to 416,100.

We’re stocking a record 500,000 cod and 500,000 yellas into Eppalock this season – that’s 1 million fish right there, into just one water! 😲

They’re all part of our bold plan to stock a record 10 million fish by April this year to deliver on a key component of the State Government’s $35 million Go Fishing Victoria plan to get more people fishing, more often.

This is Bill. He was VERY happy to see our stocking truck pull up at Lake Eppalock today to stock 53,500 Murray cod fingerlings on top of the 30,000 we released in December.

Bill's been fishing the lake since its early days, heading out as often as 4 times a week in recent years.

He reckons our stocking efforts have made all the difference, explaining that the number of Murray cod over the magic metre mark he's caught has significantly increased. And just last week, he caught 6 yellowbelly in one hour!

We've stocked close to a million Murray cod into Eppalock since 1996, so it's no surprise there’d be a few giants in there now.

And yellas? Over 2 million stocked since the early 1990s with more to come later this summer!

We’ve struck gold! Golden perch, that is!

Our first lot of yellas for the season have been released today, with 128,000 of them going into Lake Eppalock.

Last season, we stocked 2.13 million yellas across Victoria. This season we’re aiming for a whopping 4 million as we work towards stocking 8 million fish by April 2021.

But the good news doesn’t end there! We also stocked 72,000 Murray cod fingerlings into Lake Eildon.

Many of these little beauties grew up just down the road at our Snobs Creek hatchery, and in a few years they’ll add to the great fishing already on offer in Eildon.
