Respect Our Umpires
The Bendigo Baseball Umpires Association would like to remind all clubs, players, coaches, officials and spectators that abuse of umpires will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Umpires are an essential part of our game. They attend each week to ensure games are played fairly, safely and in accordance with the rules. Like players and coaches, they will occasionally make decisions that others may disagree with. However, disagreement is never an excuse for abuse.
Verbal abuse, intimidation, threatening behaviour, or personal attacks directed towards an umpire are unacceptable before, during or after a game. This includes comments made from the field, dugouts, spectator areas or after the completion of play.
The Bendigo Baseball Umpires Association is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all officials. Any behaviour that breaches the competition's Code of Conduct or brings the game into disrepute may result in disciplinary action through the appropriate tribunal process.
We ask every member of the baseball community to play their part by:
Respecting all umpiring decisions.
Leading by example, particularly as coaches and senior players.
Encouraging positive behaviour from teammates and spectators.
Remembering that without umpires, there is no game.
We appreciate the overwhelming support shown by the majority of our baseball community and thank those who continue to treat our officials with the respect they deserve.
Respect the Call. Respect the Umpire. Respect the Game.
