🥋COMPETITION RECAP 🥋
Over the weekend, we had the opportunity to take a group of students to their very first Taekwondo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition, and they absolutely delivered.
A huge shoutout to Tomas, Jagger, Joshua, Felix, Judah, and Sonny, who all stepped onto the mats with focus and determination. 👏
Despite having limited experience compared to many of their opponents, they held their own and came away with multiple gold medals – an outstanding achievement for their first outing.
Competitions like these are a valuable part of martial arts training. They build confidence, resilience, and give students the chance to test their skills under pressure.
We’re incredibly proud of how each student performed and can’t wait to see more of our team take part next time.
Well done to our young competitors – you’ve made us all proud! 👊

Adam Kicks Off 2025 with a Bronze Medal 🥉
Adam stepped onto the mats for his first competition of the year, facing five tough opponents just to make it into the elimination rounds.
With each match, he showed grit and determination, pushing through against strong competition. In the silver medal round, he went up against a highly skilled opponent and just fell short in a close match.
But the day wasn’t over yet. With bronze on the line, Adam faced off against a familiar opponent – his own teammate.
It was a hard-fought match, but with just 30 seconds left, he secured the win with a flawless straight ankle lock, finishing strong and taking home the bronze medal.
A great performance and a reminder that perseverance and composure make all the difference. Well done, Adam! 👊

Taekwondo is all about building endurance. Martial arts require both mental and physical stamina, especially during intense rounds or extended drills.
Pushing through fatigue while maintaining good form is a skill in itself. 💪
Remember: endurance isn’t just about lasting longer; it’s about staying sharp until the very end. Keep challenging yourself, and you’ll see improvements in both your strength and technique.
Great effort from everyone in class this week!

This week, we focused on balance and control. In martial arts, having good balance isn’t just about staying on your feet – it’s about maintaining control over every movement. Whether throwing a kick or dodging an opponent, balance allows us to react with speed and precision.
Tip: Next time you’re practising, pay attention to how your weight shifts. Small adjustments can make a big difference in your stability and overall power. Keep honing those basics – they’re the foundation of every advanced technique!

This week, we focused on timing and precision in our techniques. 💪
It’s one thing to know a kick or punch, but mastering when to use it and where to place it can make all the difference. Timing and precision are key to effective strikes, especially during sparring, where every second counts.
Remember: don’t rush. Take the time to understand your opponent’s movements and find the perfect moment to strike. Practise this in class, and you’ll see improvements in both your defence and offence. Keep training smart!

☝️ When doing self-defence, make sure you practice slowly to build the coordination and then increase the speed and intensity until you can do it full pace without making any mistakes.

When sparring in class or at a competition, make sure you know your strengths and weaknesses. 💪
Once you know these things about yourself, you can make better informed decisions during sparring and not get into a position where you will comprise yourself.

A big thank you to GlobalMartialArts for welcoming our students to train alongside some of the best in Australian Taekwondo. 🥋
For many of our students, this was their first time stepping outside the dojo into unfamiliar territory – and they truly held their own.
We couldn’t be prouder of everyone who attended the open mat on Friday, 25th Oct. It was inspiring to see our students applying the skills we’ve developed in class and sparring with national and international competitors from Global Martial Arts.
Now, we’ll take this experience to analyse and improve, preparing for the next open mat sparring session with even more focus and drive. 😊
