What REALLY holds us back from breaking generational cycles?

According to Priscilla, one word: ACCOUNTABILITY.

Because what happens when we start holding ourselves accountable? Or worse, when we start holding the people who have caused us pain accountable?

What does that mean for our relationships, our families, and the stories we’ve spent our lives believing?

Accountability is uncomfortable. And sometimes, it’s easier to keep repeating the cycle than to confront what breaking it might require.

🎙️ In Episode 60 of the Inner Self-Confidence Podcast, I sit down with Priscilla María Gutiérrez, J.D., Priscilla - coach, activist, and author of 📕Break the Cycle Before It Breaks You — to explore childhood trauma, family patterns, finding your voice and what it REALLY takes to become a cycle breaker.

Because breaking cycles requires us to get comfortable with uncomfortable truths.

One thing I’ve learned about sharing my story publicly is that people will form opinions about you based on a few minutes of your life, without knowing the decades that came before it.

And that’s okay.

Not everyone will like you or understand you. And not everyone is meant to.

🙏The beautiful thing about finding your voice is that you stop needing everyone else’s approval to use it and you learn vulnerability is a practice.

I had a blast recording with GEORGIA LOVE and Linda Scott for the 🎙️ Everyone Has An Ex Podcast. These two have such an incredible ear for storytelling and a gift for crafting stories that deserve to be heard.

🫶Thank you both for having me on and giving me the space to share mine. And to the comment section… thanks for reminding me why I do the work I do.🪄

You don’t have to agree with someone’s story to respect their right to tell it.

As the great philosopher Britney Spears once said… 🎀
“I don’t need nobody telling me just what I wanna do about my destiny.”

Live your life according to YOU.

Not your parents’ expectations, society’s timeline or the version of you that other people have grown comfortable with.

You are allowed to change your mind, disappoint, outgrow the life you once thought you wanted and create a life that makes no sense to anyone else!

Oops… I did it again. I Chose myself. 💃🏼🔥

What do we make of THIS? 👀🍿

A few weeks ago, I shared The New York Times article about the ongoing legal dispute involving The Holistic Psychologist, Nicole LePera and Jenna Weakland.

I didn’t write the article. I shared what was reported.

👉Then an Instagram account Truth “hetgehehej” messaged me:
“Get your facts straight on Nicole. Jenna’s a liar. Check out her family. I would walk softly because defamation suits are coming.”

Ummm...

Here’s where it gets interesting.

I found older screenshots of the SAME account (from Your Virtual Anti-Disinformation Bestie substack article) commenting during the controversay with The Holistic Psychologist’s Instagram account, after a story was posted saying “Nicole La Pera has never written anything, she is the face not the voice of the brand”

👇And this “hetgehehej” account saying:

“Not hacked guys. Stay tuned.”
And...
“Oh I know. But just not my story to tell.”

🕵️So now I’m curious. Who is this?

Shifting gears a little around here... 🔥

Over the years, I’ve grown my audience talking about trauma, nervous system regulation, emotional intelligence and all things managing stress.

All things I’m still incredibly passionate about.

👩🏼‍💻But as I’m writing my second book, “Lies We Inherit” I’ve realized I’d much rather spend my time having meaningful conversations than trying to shove another coaching program down your throat. 😂

And there are three questions I keep coming back to:
1️⃣Why are we so afraid of the truth?
2️⃣How can we tell it well?
3️⃣And what happens when we finally do?

Especially in today’s social climate, where everything seems so polarized, quicker to judge, label, or shut someone down than to get curious about where they’re coming from.

When did disagreeing with someone become a reason to stop listening? And How do we speak our truth without losing our compassion for people who see the world differently?

I don’t have all the answers. In fact, the more I learn, the more I realize how much I don’t know.

☝️thing I am for sure of…
‼️What we don’t speak, we store.

Here’s to whatever this next chapter turns out to be 🥂

An honest mistake, but a GREAT one.

As soon as I walked through the lobby to check in, I thought… hmmm 🤔🧐 I’ve seen this place before.

So, I asked the guy checking us in, “This is going to sound really random, but has Leonardo DiCaprio stayed here before?”

“Yeah!”

And obviously, I immediately had to recreate the paparazzi footage. 😂

Still not sure why so many people showed up for Leo and absolutely no one showed up for me. Bit rude, honestly. 🤣

“That’s your broken heart.”
“Of course it’s broken.” 💔

At 17 weeks pregnant with triplets, .conwell husband suddenly died.

In this episode, Ashleigh shares what grief actually looked like when the life she thought she was building changed in an instant…including ✨this powerful moment during acupuncture when her body seemed to say what words couldn’t.

We talk about becoming a mother while grieving her husband, what people get wrong about grief, and why she turned her own experience into .falcon — helping individuals, families and workplaces navigate grief with practical support, resources and conversations for a part of life we’re rarely taught how to handle.

And then there’s the wild story of how a 🔮✨psychic ultimately led Ashleigh to discover a recent health scare…

This conversation isn’t about “moving on.”

It’s about learning how to keep living while carrying a love, and a loss, that doesn’t simply disappear.

🙋‍♀️Honoured to have my third article published with Mamamia

And this is a favorite …
Mostly because it involves me trying VERY hard to get fired by getting drunk at lunch…
only to get promoted instead. 😂
You truly cannot make this s**t up.
A scene from

This story is actually one of my favourite parts of my book 📘”Trust the Flames” - Chapter 12: Burning Up.

When my mom died from ovarian cancer 14 years ago, I didn’t have the words grief burnout. I didn’t understand what grief could do to your body, your decision-making, your identity or why I desperately wanted out of a life that, on paper, looked pretty damn good.

I just knew I couldn’t keep living the way I was living.
Looking back now, I can see I wasn’t really trying to get fired.

I was trying to get permission.
Permission to leave.
Permission to fall apart.
Permission to admit that the life I was living no longer fit.

Sometimes what looks like self-sabotage from the outside is actually a person who has no idea how else to say: 🗣️ I can’t do this anymore.

And sometimes your breakdown is actually the very messy beginning of your breakthrough. 🔥

I shared this in my Stories but figured it deserved a square in case you needed the reminder too.

No one showed up to my keynote.

Yep. I spent hours creating a keynote on Time Mastery (the irony 😂) for an empty room.

And I wish I could tell you I now have ten more keynotes booked. I don’t. I’m still figuring out how to share my passion for wellness in a way people want to hear.

But those hours weren’t wasted.

To me, success isn’t really the claps. It’s what you do when there are no claps….or when the claps stop.

And maybe we don’t actually have a time problem. Maybe we have an alignment problem.

I’ll share the 🎙️Time Mastery podcast soon.

Until then: keep going. Especially when nobody’s clapping. ✨🤍

I always feel a little weird posting about Burning Man.
Because to me, it feels sacred.
And every time I try to put the experience into words, they somehow feel… inadequate.

After weeks of hiding away, integrating, crying A LOT 😂 and trying to make sense of what the hell just happened, I finally sat down to record this podcast episode:
🔥 WTF Is Burning Man & Why Do I Love It So Much?

I recorded it THREE times.
And I’m still not sure I said what I actually wanted to say.

How  do you explain a place that completely dysregulates the f**k out of you… while simultaneously filling your soul?

I came home exhausted physically, mentally and spiritually. Bloated. I cried at everything for weeks.
And I’d still go back.

Because Burning Man reminds me that real wellness isn’t only found in a yoga class, a therapist’s office, a nutritious meal or a perfectly regulated nervous system.

It’s found in connection.
Generosity.
Play.
Belonging.
Being seen and respected exactly as you are.
And trusting yourself enough to know that even when life gets uncomfortable, chaotic and wildly dysregulating… you know how to find your way back to yourself.

I don’t want to become so devoted to wellness that I forget to live.

So I tried (imperfectly) to put the magic, madness, 10 Principles, synchronicities and lessons of Burning Man into one episode.

🎙️ WTF Is Burning Man & Why Do I Love It So Much?

Comment 🔥 and I’ll send you the episode.
