Bhutan won one silver and two bronze medals at the 9th South Asia Karate Championship and the 1st South Asia Karate Cup 2025, held in Sri Lanka, today. Two Bhutanese athletes represented the country.
Aanisha Rai delivered an outstanding performance, claiming two medals at the championship. She won a silver medal in the Under 21 Female Kumite under 61 kilogramme category and a bronze medal in the Senior Women’s Kumite under 61 kilogramme category.
Meanwhile, Passang Tobgay claimed a bronze in the Senior Men’s Kumite above 84 kilogramme category.
The championship brought together over 650 athletes from six South Asian countries, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The tournament, which began on Wednesday, ended today.
