Damon Shaw - Futsal

Futsal was present at the NNSWF Coaching Conference for the 2nd time. I delivered a practical and theory session based on teaching 2v2s - probably the most important part of futsal, particularly in our environment in Australia.

Thanks to all the coaches who came and listened. Up again in Newcastle in November.

2 years ago we held open trials for the NNSWF squads - the first futsal activity by NNSWF. We then took 4 teams to compete in Melbourne.

We now have a complete pathway with affiliated clubs offering programmes for 5 to 11 year olds and then competing in the state wide Northern NSW Football Futsal Championship from 12 to 19s. Open men and women will be added on top very soon.

NNSWF runs a talent id programme with talented and eager players getting extra training with our FA qualified coaches.

We have school pathways from primary through to secondary competing in a National competition.

And we have referee and coaching courses running regularly.

Our Nationals delegation of 11 teams will see our coaches, players and referees perform on the highest stage in Australia in January 2027.

And 2027 is going to be even bigger.

Throwback to Red Faction - Ultras Boro at Boro v Liverpool in 2011.

Newcastle, Australia, I won't stop until we have scenes like this. Get behind your local clubs in the NNSWF Futsal Championship... Open men's and women's comps coming next!

Groups of 5 or 6 have to carry the ball to the other end of the court without dropping it!

If the ball touches the ground, back to the start.

Another Foundation of Futsal course delivered in northern NSW just in time for the NNSWF Futsal Championship kicking off tomorrow!

A top day of teaching and learning and giving the coaches the tools to set the environments for the kids to fall in love with the sport!

Look out for the 2027 course calendar coming soon.
