Sometimes life throws us a curve ball and it takes some effort, persistence and a lot of tears to get our smile back. A curve ball came my way the day after my second daughter was born. She was diagnosed with Hypopl
astic Left Heart Syndrome (a serious and complex form of congenital heart disease). It was a struggle but I was determined to keep happiness as a part of my life after the diagnosis of Grace’s heart condition. I did a lot of research and talked to different people about ways to be happier under difficult circumstances. One important thing I discovered, was that so much of what I was learning would be useful to anyone wanting to be happier, whether they are going through tough times or not. I think it would be true to say that everyone would love an increase in happiness. Happy in Your Heart is the culmination of all the research, counselling, talking, trying and failing that I went through to maintain my happiness once life got harder. On my journey to happiness, I met some incredible, inspirational people who courageously shared their strength, love and understanding with our family and other heart families. These experiences have affected me deeply and I often tell others that by going through one of the worst experiences of life, our family also came to experience the best that humanity has to offer. This new venture is our way of building something positive from this serious experience that I, and my family went through. It’s been tough but we are so thankful that we still have her with us, as tragically too many with this condition do not survive the first three months of life. So, I became determined to stop wasting this season of my life by not following my own heart’s desire. The venture is based on the principal that everyone wants to be happy, and based on lessons learned through this life experiences as well as results from the emerging field of research into positive psychology (the science of happiness). The core of this business is providing education, training and products guaranteed to make people happier, however the purpose of this page is to provide a place where anyone can ask questions about happiness, share what they know about happiness and share things that brought them happiness so as to share the warmth with others. So, please feel free to post and share as much as you like. Remember to be respectful of yourself and others in your postings and enjoy the good feelings that flow from sharing your experiences with a like minded community of people who have happiness as a goal in life.
