🌈 Life in Colour

Brisbane really knows how to put on a show.

We watched Riverfire at the start of Brisbane Festival, with fireworks lighting up the city in every direction.

It was loud, colourful, slightly chaotic… and absolutely brilliant. One of those moments where you stop looking at your phone, look up, and just enjoy being there.

Sometimes life in colour is exactly that.

🌿 A quiet thought for the week ahead

Stephen and I were at Pottsville last weekend and we went out early to catch the sunrise.

The colour was so intense and beautiful it almost didn’t look real... but it was! No filter. No AI. Just one of those mornings where we felt blessed to experience nature in all its glory.

It made me realise how easy it is to rush past what’s real because our minds are racing ahead.

So maybe that’s the thought for the week ahead...

Notice what’s actually in front of you, because sometimes reality is more remarkable than anything we could create.

🌈 Life in Colour

This photo was taken at the Bridge to Brisbane a couple of weeks ago.

By the 8.5km mark I was exhausted, my legs were hurting, and I was seriously running out of steam.

Then I spotted Stephen up ahead looking back for me. He came alongside, saw the race photographer, and started yelling, “Do star jumps! ... Do star jumps!”

In my head I was thinking, “I can hardly lift my bloody legs, let alone do anything else.”

But I somehow managed one jump, and the camera caught me looking far happier than I felt.

A good reminder that even when something feels hard, there can still be a moment in it that makes you smile.

🧐 Remarkable Rainbows

Did you know the second rainbow in a double rainbow is usually fainter, and the colours appear in reverse order?

I took this photo from the river in Brisbane after a storm rolled through. The first rainbow was bold and bright, but then I noticed the second one sitting quietly above it.

A reminder that sometimes there’s more there than we first see. We just have to pause long enough to notice it.

🌿 A quiet thought for the week ahead

I took this photo at Hope Island at 5.40am, just as the day was beginning.

The sky looked heavy, but that strip of gold was already finding its way through.

It made me think about how quickly we can focus on the darker part of the picture.

The heaviness … the pressure … the things we haven’t sorted yet.

But sometimes there’s still something steady there, even if it’s only a narrow line across the horizon.

As a new week begins, maybe that’s enough to notice.

🌈 Life in Colour

I love my home city, and one of the annual events we always enjoy is Brisbane Festival. It brings colour to the river at South Bank, and this year was no different.

Stephen and I stopped to watch this water and light show last weekend, with the city lit up around us and people gathered along the river.

It was bright, playful and a bit unexpected.

One of those moments where a familiar place suddenly feels different. And a good reminder that sometimes life in colour turns up right where you are.
