Let’s hear from our newest member Brodie ahead of his debut at Lakeside 10!

My Names Brodie Tohara. Very passionate about the community side of running. Running has taught me many lessons of what hard work can accomplish in life.

I’ve run 5 marathons now and I’m still learning everyday.

My running journey began with mum and ever since I’m motivated and very ambitious to achieve more.

The 2027 Victorian Country Athletics Championships are coming to Ballarat!

Held from Friday 22nd – Sunday 24th January 2027, athletes will be treated to brand new facilities, with works at the Ballarat Regional Athletic Centre approaching the finish line.

The Victorian Country Athletics Championships is a celebration of athletics, offering events in all age groups from U14 up to 60+. Both Metro and Country athletes can compete and enjoy the festivities that the Ballarat region has to offer.

The new blue athletics track will be complimented by a clubhouse to support Athletics Ballarat’s training, administration and event operations, and once complete, will be a World Athletics Class 2 Certified facility.

Last Thursday, Minister for Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos joined Matt Jenkins, Mackenzie Estlick, Nyajima Jock, Grace Crowe and Mayor of Ballarat, Councilor Tracey Hargreaves to celebrate the progress of construction for Ballarat’s new home for athletics, including a viewing of the freshly laid blue athletics track.

The following athletes will represent Wellington AC at the Sale Greyhound Club's 2026 Dash For Cash on Sunday the 9th of August. Our athletes will be in contention to take home the winning prize of $500 + $500 for their club.

There will also be a Club Spirit Award of $1,000 awarded to the club with the strongest supporter presence (club colours required) so come on down to support our athletes!!

FLEMING IS FLYING
In her maiden European season, Elly Fleming has re-set her 1000m record in the Herculis Elite 1000m in Monaco at the Meeting International d'Athlétisme Herculis. Elly took a further 2 seconds off her previous record of 2:55.30 set in November 2025.
