@🥋 Taekwondo is More Than Kicks and Punches
👉 From a parent...
One of my friends asked me, "Why do you spend so much money and so much time taking your child to Taekwondo?"
Well, I have a confession to make...
I don't pay for Taekwondo classes.I don't pay for belts.I don't pay for uniforms.I don't pay for tournaments.
So, if I'm not paying for Taekwondo, what am I paying for?
✔️ I pay for those moments when my child is exhausted, wants to quit, but keeps going anyway.
✔️ I pay for the opportunity to build friendships that may last a lifetime.
✔️ I pay for instructors who teach far more than kicking and punching. They teach respect, integrity, perseverance, humility and self-control.
✔️ I pay for my child to learn discipline and responsibility.
✔️ I pay for my child to learn how to set goals and work towards achieving them.
✔️ I pay for my child to learn confidence—not the loud confidence that seeks attention, but the quiet confidence that comes from overcoming challenges.
✔️ I pay for my child to learn resilience and how to get back up after setbacks, disappointments and failures.
✔️ I pay for my child to learn that success is earned through consistent effort, patience and dedication—not instant gratification.
✔️ I pay for my child to learn to support others, encourage teammates and become a respectful member of their community.
✔️ I pay for my child to learn leadership and the importance of helping those who are newer and less experienced.
✔️ I pay for my child to spend time developing themselves instead of spending more hours in front of a screen.
And perhaps most importantly...
✔️ I pay for coaches and instructors who often become much more than teachers. They become mentors, role models, motivational coaches and sometimes even a trusted ear when life gets difficult. They help guide young people through challenges, celebrate their successes, build their self-belief and remind them of their potential when they cannot yet see it themselves.
I could go on, but in short...
I don't pay for Taekwondo.
I pay for the opportunities that Taekwondo provides my child to develop qualities that will serve them for the rest of their life—discipline, resilience, confidence, respect, leadership, perseverance and character.
From what I have seen over many years, that is one of the best investments a parent can make.
🥋 Taekwondo doesn't just build stronger athletes.
It helps build stronger people.
