Another deep run. Another final table.

Another deep run. Another final table.
On Saturday night, I played Zeus at Empire Poker Brisbane — 78 entries, 10+ hours of poker, $16,380 prize pool.
Finished 3rd for $2,450. And picked up an extra $500 for Last Man Standing. 💰
78 players. One final table. A heads-up deal at the end between Sam Sanjari and Rosella Braybrooke, both locking up $4,200.
The field was stacked with regulars and serious contenders. Getting to the final three in a field like that doesn’t happen by accident — it’s reads, patience, discipline, and a bit of run-good when it counts.
Total take for the night: $2,950.
This is exactly the kind of session I’ll be breaking down in the monthly results video — the hands, the spots, the final table dynamics, and what I’d do differently.
The grind is working. The journey continues. 🙏

3-way deal. $1,000 locked up. 2nd place. 🃏
Last night at Empire Poker’s The Pharaoh — 30 runners, $3,600 prize pool, five and a half hours of poker.
Minseok Kim took it down for $1,350. Well played. Lance Towns and I chopped the remaining spots for $1,000 each.
Nights like this remind me why I love tournament poker. The grind. The decisions. The moments that matter.
The journey continues. 🙏

🔥 Mystical Monday Freeze Out – Empire Poker 🔥

📍 Empire Poker
📅 23/02/2026
💰 $160 Buy-in | 31 Entries | $3,470 Prize Pool
🥉 Finished 3rd – Cashed $650
⏱ Played 7pm–11pm (4 hours)

Final Placings
🥇 Will Ivens — $1,500
🥈 David Clark — $920
🥉 Aman Poonia — $650
4️⃣ Jonathan Cross — $400
🎟️ Nardi Dance — $250 Main Event Ticket

Monday night. Freeze-out format. No second chances.

I arrived an hour late, sat down at 7pm with 50,000 in chips — and four hours later walked away with a podium finish.

Overall? I played solid poker.

But let’s talk about the hand that made the night.

🧠 The Big Fold – Discipline Over Ego

Blinds: 500 / 1,500
I’m in the Small Blind with KJ offsuit.

UTG+1 raises to 2,600. I call. Big blind calls.

Flop: K♣ 2♦ 4♠ (rainbow)
Check. Check. Villain bets 3,000. I call. BB calls.

Turn: J♥ — flush draw opens.
Now I have top two pair.

Check. Check. I bets 6,000.
BB calls.
Villain bumps it to 12,000.

Alarm bells.

What hands make sense here?

• Set of 4s
• Strong combo draw
• Maybe KQ
• Maybe a slow-played monster

I 3x re-raise to 36,000 to define the hand.

Then chaos.

Big blind shoves.
Original villain shoves.

And this is where poker becomes mental warfare.

My read: Pocket 4s. Or 2s Flopped set.

Everything lined up — sizing, tempo, confidence.
As painful as it felt, I folded top two pair.

Showdown:
• Big blind: K2 (two pair)
• Villain: 44 (flopped set)

River blank.

If I call, I’m out.

That fold saved my tournament life.

This is the difference between gambling and playing poker.

❌ The Mistake

Final table. 6 players left. Top 5 paid.

I tightened up too much.

I became a nit.

Instead of applying pressure, I protected my stack. That shift cost me momentum. And at this level, momentum is everything.

That’s the honest truth.

You don’t grow in poker by pretending you played perfect.

You grow by reviewing leaks.

📊 Session Breakdown

• Tournament: Mystical Monday Freeze Out
• Starting Stack: 50,000
• Field: 31 players
• Finish: 3rd
• Prize: $650
• Duration: 4 hours

Strong discipline. One elite fold. One strategic leak at the final table.

Progress.
—————

Here are your quick numbers from Mystical Monday:

Buy-in: $160
Cash: $650
Net Profit: $490

ROI = (Profit ÷ Buy-in) × 100
= 490 ÷ 160 × 100
= 306.25% ROI

That’s strong. Anything over 100% in a single MTT is a great result. 300%+ is excellent.

Total Return Multiple
650 ÷ 160 = 4.06x your money

Hourly Rate
$490 profit ÷ 4 hours = $122.50 per hour

Field size: 31
Finish: 3rd

Key Lessons

• Discipline saved my tournament life.
• Reads > strong hands.
• Final table aggression matters.
• Don’t protect chips — apply pressure.

🏆 Discipline Wins Tournaments
🎲 Luck may win hands.
🧠 Discipline wins tournaments.

Play the player.
Play the position.
Wait for the right moment — then go for it.

🔥 That’s how winners think.

😤 Being short stacked doesn’t mean going all-in blindly.
Patience.
Position.
Timing.
🎯 One good decision at the right moment can bring you straight back into the game.
