🏁 RACE DAY RECAP 🏁
Exactly 1 week ago we travelled down to Gatton speedway for the final round of the club championship and what a weekend it was
After an early start, we hit the track with one goal: stay consistent and put ourselves in the best position possible.
Heat 1: Started P4 and worked my way forward to finish P2 while chasing down the leader.
Heat 2: Started P6 and fought through the field to finish P2 again.
Heat 3: Started P3 and brought home another P2 finish.
Those results were enough to earn a front-row start in 2nd for the feature race.
In the feature, I got a great start and took the lead early, building a solid gap over second place.
Unfortunately, while leading, we suffered another engine failure and were unable to finish the race.
While it wasn't the way we wanted to end the night, there's still plenty to be proud of. We showed strong pace all weekend, lowered my personal best lap from 19.97 to 19.69, and put ourselves in a position to fight for the win.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped throughout the season and to my fellow competitors. A special mention to pole-sitter and good mate Steve, who showed incredible sportsmanship by presenting me with his 2nd place feature trophy after the race. That gesture meant a lot and is something I'll never forget.
