Round 4 wrapped up βοΈπβ€οΈ
A great week for the club, from our juniors right through to our senior sides.
Strong efforts from the U13s and U16s, with the 16s putting together a great win π
Our senior teams followed it up with some big performances, including dominant results in both GNL sides π₯
Plenty to be proud of, letβs take this momentum into next week! π¦
π
Our U13s played West Devonport on Friday night and they had some good chances to score throughout the game. The game had a lot of back and forth but it was West who put the only goal on the board. The young Hawkers worked hard right to the end but the clock would beat them before they could tie things up.
Final score 0 to 1 loss
Next up U16s also took on West and were keen to keep the good momentum going. There were some nervous moments early on as West had a few quick break aways and snuck a goal but then our defence held strong to keep them out. A good team game with lots of players stepping up into different roles. Jagger scored a Hatrick, Zeppelin 2 and Darcie 1 in a good all round team performance. Getting the coaches lollies this week was Matilda Cornwall who had some strong moments and played a great game off the half-back, great work Tilly, keep it up!
Final score 6 to 1 Win
Saturday action we had senior teams in Devonport as we took part in the inaugural Community Cancer cup with the West Devonport club. We were very grateful to be part of this big day and we extend our thanks to Sam and the West Devonport club for allowing us to be involved in the day.
GNL Women were up first at 11am and they got off to a good start when Meah scored first off a pc then Clare had a nice field goal to go 2 nil up first qtr. The 2nd Qtr seen Meah score from another PC and Frenchy put a great field goal in to go 4 nil up just on half time. Third Qtr action Darcie scored a field goal then Meah scored to make it a Hatrick. The last Qtr Meah had a PC goal to score her fourth. West scored after the siren from a PC.
Final score 7 to 1 Win
GNL men were up at 12.30 looking to put together a good performance. They would play a great team game with lots of positives across the turf and well in control of the game. Hitting the score board were Jordan Dart with a Hatrick, Hayden Davey with 2 and then singles to both Connor Poke & Jason Bomford.
Final score 7 to 0 Win
Div 2 men played at 2pm and had a tough battle on their hands in the first half as West Devonport came out strong and had the backline working hard. Things would settle a little and both teams were playing well with a few goals scored and the contest was tightening up. The Hawkers would find the back of the net a few more times late in the game to take the pressure off and run the game out strongly. Goal scorers were Andy Sargent & Jagger Barnard with 2 each, Triston Crawford and Jarred Bomford one each, great stuff men!
Final score 6 to 2 Win
Div 2 Women played at 3.30pm in the last game of the day. Mel Watts was the first to score to put the Hawkers up 1 nil, Molly would then score to go 2 nil up and the team playing well. West scored a nice goal in the third Qtr to make things a little tense. The ladies would hold their nerve and another goal by Lucy Rostan would seal the game.
Final score 3 to 1 Win
That wraps up another huge weekend of hockey, once again thanks to the West Devonport Hockey Club for involving us in the inaugural Community Cancer round, it was a pleasure to be there for the full day and looking forward to future ones.
