⛈️Div 2 went out demon hunting!⛈️

Nice to get the first one under the belt 🩵💙

⛈️ Send her like Bender 💪🏼🏃🏼‍♀️⛈️

Mila Bender picked up 3 hits, scored twice and knocked in an RBI, all while holding Brisbane North to just 1 run with her efforts on the mound.

The mammoth 15-1 haul to kick off the Division 1 campaign came with 14 hits and extra bases chalked up across the line up, and a sneaky bunt from Emma Reid.

Kirah Moloney led things off for the storm with a hard ground ball single to left field, filling the dugout with confidence. It was Shiori Hoshino's triple to rightfield that really got the crowd going and the score board ticking over.

Courtney Lowe and Hiro Kinjo also picked up extra base hits.

Courtney Lowe, Shiori Hoshino and Hiro Kinjo each tallied 3 RBIs, while Cathy Rowe tallied 2 for her efforts at the plate.

M Bender: 48 pitches, 29 strikes, 3Ks
H Kinjo: 31 pitches, 21 strikes, 4Ks

Not a bad way to ride the storm!

Bec and Maddy at their first State Titles!!

⛈️Storms entered Buffalo Territory ⛈️

A long day out courtesy of the Northern Territory Buffalos gave our Div 2 side a steep learning curve.

Nevertheless, in true storm fashion, the team handled it with laughs and good humour along the way.

That do-what-it-takes attitude had the team trying new positions, including pitching!

Nothing like a bit of pitcher-batter banter for your Friday arvo 🤣

Time to rest up and do it all again tomorrow!

⛈️Young Gun Gattera Gets the W⛈️

This storm kept on rolling with the day finishing in a mercy dash against Gold Coast.

Across her 2 innings pitched, Claire Gattera let up just one earned run to see the final score 2-17.

We'll shout the grounds crew later. They'll have their work cut out as the team ran circles around the base paths.

Extra base hits were led by Hiro Kinjo with a triple in the fourth, while Courtney Lowe, Mila Bender and Shiori Hoshino all picked up doubles to secure RBIs.

Sit tight as we sound off this next bit. There was a pair of RBIs for Hoshino, Gattera, Lowe, Hook, Sheaves and Moloney. Bender, Kinjo and Reid joined the action too with one a piece.

Hoshino and Kinjo picked up three hits each.

The game was all said and done as Cathy Rowe took the mound, shutting the game down in just 10 pitches!

Phew.... Did someone say ice baths, a big feed and a good night sleep after all that? The team could probably use the same 🤣

Gattera: 28 pitches, 18 strikes, 2Ks
Sheaves: 28 pitches, 16 strikes, 2Ks
Rowe: 10 pitches, 6 strikes, 1K

⛈️🥇Extra, Extra Reid all about it! 🥇⛈️
A storm has just surged across the Metro region!

74 put outs, 67 hits, 66 runs and an incredible 438 pitches over three epic days - Division 1 Storm have secured their 4th gold medal in 5 years.

It's all a bit of a blur of adrenaline... so what happened?

Catches, routine ground balls, throwing strikes, moving runners, winning one innings at a time. That's the basics of baseball. That's all it takes!

The first innings was neck to neck. Metro scored a run early but the team weren't phased. Bender on the mound, the team worked the game plan one out at a time.

The team answered run for run as Moloney secured a lead off hit of her own. 'Wheels Moloney' true to form made her way round the bases, scoring on a sacrifice fly from Hoshino.

After holding Metro scoreless in the second, the real hype began. Team discipline, heads up base running and quality team batting gave Coach Riggs 5 runs to wave through.

Metro answered in the fourth bringing the score to 6-6

Steady those who ride the storm though. Every innings the team chipped away one run after another.

We we're Hook-ed by Priya's efforts behind the dish. A last minute call up to don the mask, followed by a cannon pick off to 2nd base.

There were 11 hits across the team - Gattera (3), Moloney (2), Bender (2), Rowe (2)

On the mound the combination of Bender and Gattera had well over 50% strike rates. This put the ball well and truly in Metro's...zone?

Bender 72 pitches, 40 strikes, 3.2 innings
Gattera 53 pitches, 28 strikes, 3.1 innings

In every sense of it, this was a whole team victory.

Time to celebrate 🥳 🥂
