Australian Open Day 2 – Men’s Singles
Day 2 of the Australian Open saw the Men’s Singles sections get underway, with Darren Morrison progressing through his section undefeated after three hard-fought victories. Every match went right down to the wire. Darren now will advance to the Knockout stages next Saturday.
There will now be a couple of days off for our players while the remaining Singles sections are completed across the Gold Coast.
Attention then turns to the Pairs competition, with Anthony French and Shaun Addy beginning their campaigns on Tuesday, while Darren Morrison will return to the greens on Wednesday for his Pairs matches. πŸ¨πŸ’šπŸ’›

Australian Open – Day 1 Update
Day 1 of the Australian Open Mixed Pairs has concluded, with Anthony French and his partner Marion Darmody (ACT) finishing 2nd in Section 36 after recording one win and suffering two narrow losses.
While they were unable to progress to the knockout rounds, Anthony and Marion represented themselves and their clubs admirably against strong opposition throughout the day.
Attention now turns to the Men's Singles tomorrow, with Darren Morrison beginning his Australian Open campaign at Southport Bowls Club.
Good luck Darren

2026 Australian Open

The 2026 Australian Open rolls off on the Gold Coast in just 2 days, with several of our Koalas set to take to the greens across a range of disciplines during the opening week of competition. The Australian Open will run from 5–19 June and once again brings together the best bowlers from around Australia and around the world for the sport's biggest festival.

We wish all of our Koalas the very best of luck as they represent the club on one of the biggest stages in lawn bowls. Play hard, enjoy the experience, and make the most of every opportunity.

For those unable to make the trip to the Gold Coast, be sure to tune in to the Bowls Australia YouTube channel, where selected matches will be streamed live throughout the two weeks of competition.

Good luck to all of our players competing. Go Koalas! πŸ¨πŸ’šπŸ’›

Season Review/ Platinum Pennant Future
After plenty of speculation from parties and people outside the CBSRC Centrium, the annual season review has now been completed by the CBSRC Board of Directors and the Bowls Co-ordinator.
We are pleased to announce that the CBSRC Board of Directors have unanimously committed to the Platinum Pennant for Season 4
The next 18 months will be a pivotal period for the club as we look to maintain and build on the success of last season while continuing to strengthen and grow the CBSRC brand both on and off the green.
Over the coming months, we will be announcing player re-signings, new signings, and the major events and competitions the Koalas will be targeting throughout the next 18 months.
We will also be launching our "Join the Team" campaign, aimed at attracting players of all ages, abilities, and experience levels. Whether you're looking for social bowls, competitive pennant bowls, junior development opportunities, or simply a fun game of barefoot bowls with family and friends, CBSRC has something for everyone.
The future is bright for the Koalas, and we look forward to sharing the next chapter of our journey with our members, supporters, sponsors, and the wider bowls community.

Bowls NSW Champion of Champion Pairs – Day 3 Knockouts

Our Ladies team’s run at the Champion of Champion Pairs has come to an end at the hands of the St Johns Park ladies, Brianna Smith and Dawn Hayman.

Joanne McKennall and Maelene Reynolds did the club proud, finishing in the Top 16 of the State Champion of Champion Pairs. This is a massive step in the right direction for our club, as it is the first time in quite a while we have had ladies representatives at the State Championships.

Congratulations ladies, we are extremely proud of your efforts and the way you represented the club throughout the event.

That’s a wrap for our Koalas at the State Champion of Champion Pairs.

Our next events will see the Koalas head to the Gold Coast for the Blue Diamond Pairs, Matador Fours and the Australian Open. More information on these events, along with a special announcement, will be coming next week.

NSW Open Selections

Congratulations to 2 of our Koalas who have been selected to represent the NSW Blues when they take on the QLD Maroons in a 3 match test series at Cabramatta Bowling Club on 22nd and 23rd July.

Brett Spurr will make his return to the NSW line-up after already playing several test matches and being part of the Alley Shield winning side 2 years ago.

Darren Morrison will be making his debut in the NSW Open Team after several years of being included in the NSW State Squads.

Congratulations to both players β€” a fantastic achievement and recognition of your hard work and performances. We know you will do your State and Club proud.

Bowls NSW Champion of Champion Pairs – Day 2 Update

Tough day on the greens for our Men’s team who narrowly went down in both games today at a waterlogged St Johns Park. Unfortunately Lee Trethowan and Nathan Malloy didn’t proceed to the knockout stages, but represented the club with plenty of pride and passion throughout the event.

It was a much brighter note for our Ladies team of Joanne McKennall and Maelene Reynolds who progressed through to the knockout stages tomorrow in fine style. The ladies recorded 2 dominant wins against Windang and Harrington to advance through to the Round of 32.

Jo and Mar will now head to Club Mount Lewis tomorrow for the knockout rounds, with their opponent still to be determined. If successful in the morning match, they will move through to the Round of 16 scheduled for 1pm.

Congratulations to all four players on representing the club at State level and best of luck to Jo and Mar tomorrow!
