Coaching & Trainer Leadership Courses β 2026 π
The Parramatta Junior Rugby League will again deliver its Coaching & Trainer Leadership Courses, with attendance expected from all Coaches and Sports Trainers across the competition.
These sessions are a key part of our ongoing commitment to player welfare, safe environments, and consistent game day standards. Importantly, they will include critical updates and expectations around game day concussion management that all Coaches and Trainers must be aware of and apply.
Each session will include three focused components:
Community Rugby League Gameday Management of Concussion
Including the role, responsibilities and authority of First Responders, aligned to the NRL Community Rugby League Policy
Coach the Coaches
A leadership-focused session designed to support Coaches in setting standards, managing people, and leading appropriately on and off the field.
Preventing On and Off Field Violence
Reinforcing expectations around behaviour, control, and accountability to ensure safe and respectful environments for participants, officials and volunteers.
All sessions include food served from 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start, concluding at 9:00pm.
We strongly encourage Coaches and Trainers attend, one of the sessions. If you are unavailable to attend your designated session, you are welcome to attend one of the other sessions. The information delivered is essential, practical, and directly linked to match day compliance, player safety, and league expectations.
We look forward to your attendance and your support in continuing to raise standards across the PJRL.

π¨U10βU12: Approval to Play Tackle on Saturday & Sunday in 2026
Over the past two seasons, several of our PJRL affiliated Sunday Clubs have participated in the Balmain District Junior Rugby League (BDJRL) Competitions for the U10βU12 age groups.
This arrangement allowed our Sunday Teams to continue competing while the PJRL worked to rebuild its own Sunday Competitions. However, the BDJRL has now advised that PJRL Teams will not be eligible to enter their U10βU12 Sunday Competitions in 2026, meaning this pathway is no longer available to our Clubs.
With this option removed, the PJRL sought a formal dispensation from the NSWRL to ensure children aged 10, 11 and 12 could continue accessing regular game time and development opportunities.
As a result, approval has been granted for eligible Players to participate on both Saturday and Sunday in the 2026 season, provided they follow the registration and permit process outlined below.
This dual day participation model aims to create strong Sunday Competitions within our own District while continuing to maximise opportunities for young Players.
With the above in mind, weβre pleased to confirm that Players aged 10, 11 and 12 are permitted to play on both Saturday and Sunday Competitions this season.
Below is a simple guide to how this works and what you need to do before Round 1.
Whatβs changing?
β’ Dual participation approved: Your child may now play on Saturdays and Sundays in 2026.
β’ One registration, two days: Registration is tied to the Saturday Club. Sunday football is then arranged in one of the two ways below.
How to register and (if needed) permit
1) Register with your Saturday Club (required)
β’ Every eligible Player must complete their standard 2026 registration with the Club they will play for on Saturday.
2) Choose your Sunday option
Option A β Same Club on Sunday:
β’ If your Saturday Club is entering a Sunday Team, your child can play for that Team using the same registration. No extra steps are required.
Option B β Different Club on Sunday (Permit required):
β’ If your Saturday Club is not entering a Sunday Teamβor your child wishes to join a different Clubβs Sunday Teamβyour child must obtain a permit to that Sunday Club.
3) If playing for two Clubs (Saturday Club A + Sunday Club B)
β’ Please contact the Sunday Club you intend to play for.
β’ The Sunday Club will coordinate the permit through the Parramatta Junior Rugby League (PJRL) process.
β’ You do not need to complete any transferβthis is a permit only for Sunday football.
The βMaximum Five Playerβ rule (U10βU12 Sunday Teams)
To keep Sunday Teams balanced and competitive:
β’ A Sunday Team can include a maximum of five (5) Division 1/Red Players.
β’ In practice, this means:
a) If 6 (or more) Players who all play together in the same Division 1/Red Saturday Team want to join the same Sunday Team, only five of those Players can be in that Sunday Team.
b) The 6th Player (and any beyond that) would need to join a different Sunday Team.
c) This rule does not stop your child from playing Sundays; it simply ensures no single Sunday side becomes a dominant Team.
Why do we have this rule?
β’ It maintains competitive balance across Sunday Competitions, supports Player development for a wider group of children, and keeps the experience enjoyable and fair for all Teams.
Quick checklist for Parents/Carers
β
Register your child with the Saturday Club (mandatory)
β
Decide your Sunday plan:
β’ Same Club on Sunday β No further action
β’ Different Club on Sunday β Contact the Sunday Club to start the permit process (they will arrange it through PJRL)
β
Be mindful of the five-Player limit from Saturday Division 1/Red Teams into any single Sunday Team
Need help?
β’ Registration questions: Contact your Saturday Club Secretary/Registrar
β’ Permit questions: Contact your Sunday Club (they will drive the permit process through PJRL)
β’ General enquiries: Send a message to us through Messenger and our Team will assist
https://www.parraeels.com.au/junior-league/our-clubs/
Thank you for your support as we continue to expand opportunities for our junior Players. Weβre excited to provide the opportunity for kids to get out there enjoying their footy on both days this season.
