What a spectacular morning this morning was. I had it off so I was able to go for a sunrise run which was so needed. I must admit I haven't been for a run in over 10 months, instead I've been opting for weight sessions at home in my studio. I love gaining strength by lifting weights, I feel so bloody good when I am strong, but there's certainly something to be said for the rhythmic meditation of running; fresh air, sunrises and silence (mum life IYKYK). Needless to say, it's been a good day so far ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŒ…

OK so here it is... 

Due to unexpected extended maternity leave I will unfortunately no longer be practising as a Physiotherapist, but instead I'll be embarking on another exciting new adventure using all the skills I have developed over the past 13 years in the health and fitness industry as a physio, pilates instructor and personal trainer. 

I'm excited to be offering the following services:
โ™ฅ Personal training 
โ™ฅ Weight management 
โ™ฅ Injury recovery and rehabilitation 
โ™ฅ Strength and conditioning 
โ™ฅ Pre and post natal training/education 
โ™ฅ Falls prevention 

I'll be offering these services in person from my home studio in Coolangatta where I have access to a large variety of equipment including free weights such as kettlebells, dumbbells and medicine balls as well as bands, fit ball, Bosu ball, pilates circles, foam rollers, pilates balls and ankle weights just to name a few. I'm also excited to be able to offer reformer pilates in the not so distant future. 

These sessions can be one on one where you'll have personal access to me, my knowledge and equipment or you may wish to train with a friend. The first session is free where we'll meet to discuss your personal goals, medical history and anything else relevant to your situation. I'll then assess you through thorough posture and movement tests to get a feel for you and your bodies story. From there we'll develop a plan together before we begin building a stronger, happier, healthier you! 

I'm so excited to be able to offer these services as exercise and movement are where my passion truly lies! I love nothing more than to help people feel strong, balanced, energised and pain free. I honestly believe that the fountain of youth lies through movement! Hence my motto "Youth through movement".

Can you do the Sitting- Rising Test? This test is a clinical test that predicts mortality risk in those middle aged to elderly. The maximum possible score on the SRT is 10 points: a possible total of 5 points for sitting down, and 5 points for rising from the floor to a standing position without using a hand, forearm, knee, or the side of the leg to press up from the groundโ€”or bracing a hand on the kneeโ€”each result in a deduction of one point.

To execute this movement successfully you need to have good flexibility, muscle strength, core strength, balance, power-to-body weight ratio and co-ordination, all of which are important for falls prevention and for adequately preforming activities of daily living.

Last night's delicious vegetarian pizza thanks to all the fresh produce from .foster and .farmers.store.byron and amazing super clean and yummy gluten free pizza bases from ๐Ÿ•

We're predominantly following a due to gut issues I'm dealing with and behavioural issues my daughter is dealing with.... So I made a yummy roasted capsicum sauce to use as the base instead of a traditional tomato base. It was so yummy and even more importantly the entire family devoured it! Topping consisted of roast pumpkin, zucchini, mushrooms, capsicum, kale, spring onion, goats cheese and a little cheese on top!
