The 113th running of the Dalby Picnic Races will be held on Sat 25 April 2026. An annual social and racing event not to miss!

Held annually in April, the Dalby Picnic Races attracts up to 4,500 patrons which makes it Dalby’s biggest annual race day. The country atmosphere, where ’city meets bush’, and fabulous Fashions on the Field, attracts a mixture of corporate guests and social race goers with crowds travelling from throughout Queensland and interstate.

Now we've had time to recover, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came out to the Dalby Picnic Races last month. By supporting our race day you are also supporting our local and wider community.

As a result of your support we are stoked to announce that we have been able to donate $10,000 to LifeFlight Foundation and $1,000 to the Jandowae Light Horse Brigade👏

Thank you to our sponsors for turning up year after year.

These race days don't just happen, they are a result of hours of planning from a committee full of volunteers. Thank you.

We hope to see you back in 2027 with dates to be announced later in the year

What a good time!! 🍾🏇

A huge thank you to everyone who helped our 2026 race day such a success — from our incredible volunteers, hardworking vendors, sponsors, race club, committee, officials, staff and jockeys, to every single patron who came along and brought the atmosphere to life.

From the fashion and festivities to the racing action and community spirit, it was a day to remember. We’re so grateful for the support shown both on and off the track and couldn’t do it without you all.

Thank you for celebrating with us — we can’t wait to do it all again next year!

CALCUTTA | RACE 5 🐎

Being a staple at all “Picnics”, the Calcutta allows you the excitement of becoming a
horse owner for a day.

Tickets are sold similar to a raffle, which gives the buyer a chance of drawing a horse that is racing in the Calcutta race.

After the draw, each horse has a temporary owner.

Following this, each horse goes up for auction. Like all auctions, anyone can place a bid however, if you have the winning bid, you are now the ‘owner’ of that horse. The original owner can also bid on their, or any horse. If you bid, you have the potential to be crowned the horse owner. Payment must be made via cash or
eftpos prior to the start of the Calcutta race.

The original owner from the horse from the raffle receives 50% of the auctioned
value. The rest of the proceeds go to the winning pool.

After the horses are auctioned, the ‘winning pool’ is tallied and funds divided
between 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters.

There is always something for the horse that comes last!
