John has been the technical director of Football Northern Territory for 14 years, following an illustrious soccer career which saw him play around the world from China to Azerbaijan, Ireland, New Zealand and Greece. The NAFA program was born from a need to provide young Territorians with the opportunity to excel and develop refined technical skills that will enable these youth the opportunity to compete at a highly competitive national level. In the early years, a similar program was run called NTCE and several of these youth under the tutelage of John Tambouras, are now successfully employed as professional footballers around Australia.
