β‘οΈ The fitness industry finally noticed women over 50.
The bad news? They brought a chair, a resistance band, and a pair of 1kg pink dumbbells. π€¦ββοΈ
Every major fitness report is calling 'older adult training' the biggest trend for 2026. But if you look at what's actually being marketed to women in their 50s and 60s, itβs mostly rehab-style movement masquerading as strength training.
Why are we treating healthy, capable women like theyβre made of glass?
Being over 50 isn't an acute injury. Itβs a stage of life where muscle mass, bone density, and hormonal profile demand progressive resistance - not permission to coast.
Light weights, Pilates, and chair-assisted hip extensions aren't going to build the bone mineral density needed to fight osteoporosis. They can't build the raw, functional power required to lift luggage overhead, carry loaded groceries, or maintain physical independence for the next thirty years.
You don't need to become a bodybuilder or a powerlifter. You just need progression.
π₯ The women over 50 who come to me are already strong af - more than they even know.
But they do come in ready to push past the low expectations society sets for them, progress their strength training, and learn what they are truly capable of doing.
πͺ Most women are ALREADY able to use 5kg+ weights right from the start. Week after week, month after month, they progress at their own pace - never forced to lift an arbitrary weight, but always moving forward. They keep progressing, adapting, and leveling up well into their 60s, building the muscle, power, and resilience that changes how they live and move every single day.
π₯ Stop underestimating what women over 50 can do. You don't need rehab. You need progress.
π‘ If you actually do need rehab, then you should be seeing an Ex Phys or physio. Otherwise, visit www.strongbeyondfifty.com for information on current offers.
