CCHC Update | Full Debrief and What Happens Next👇👇👇

Alrighty fam, I want to give a proper debrief and be upfront about where things are at with The Cassowary Coast Hunters Club. It's honestly not easy to be going here and makes me feel not so good in the tummy but I have to think ahead right now! 👇

What’s happened so far✨️
I’ve now had full no-shows to my first three meetings. One of the meetings was also cancelled on the venue’s end before I even had the chance to make the call.

I’ve put the time aside, organised venues, shown up and prepared to run these properly. But at this point it’s clear that scheduling meetings without confirmed numbers is not working and I can’t keep holding time and energy for empty sessions.

Where I’m at personally👇
Right now, I need to sort out my life before I keep pushing the club forward.

We are currently having to apply all over the place for a house to live in. We have even applied for the Tablelands and as soon as we find a house suitable for us to move into, we will be taking it.

To be honest, I’m on the verge of burnout with everything going on.
I’ve been overwhelmed with the uncertainty around housing for my family. I need stability first before I keep trying to build something this big.
Because let's face it, I didnt start this to be a p**s in the wind idea but to be something us Cassowary Coasters can be proud of. Its for us Hunters, Land Holders/ Farmers and the wider community.

Membership update👏
I want to genuinely thank everyone who has messaged, shown interest and supported the idea.
At this stage though, I still haven’t gained any hunting members. I have landholders only at the moment.

What happens next ⏱️
For now, I’m putting The Cassowary Coast Hunters Club on hold for the next few weeks while I secure our living situation and get my head above water.

During this pause:
• No meetings will be going ahead
• I’ll still be active in the pigging and outdoor community page
• I’ll post an update once I know what’s happening with where we’re living and what direction the club can realistically take from there
•Expressions of Interest for Committee members will still be being taken in this pause
•I will be going through some systems and getting them fine tuned for when I come back.

It’s been disheartening to see a gap between interest and attendance, which is why I’m moving to RSVP-only going forward

When the club restarts, it will be run differently:
• RSVP only
• If I don’t have enough confirmed numbers, the meeting won’t go ahead
• I will do a video update instead so people still get the information without me wasting time and fuel turning up to an empty room
•I will also be keeping it a tight nit community
• I’ll be finalising weigh-in systems and entry processes so we can roll them out properly when we resume

Thanks for understanding.

This club has always been a not-for-profit, community-driven idea and I still believe in it, but I can’t carry it alone while life is this unsettled.

I have literally started this club because the North has a major Pig problem and I genuinely care about the future of our sport and want to help bring us together as a community to make a difference.
This is literally a love job from the bottom of my heart that ive wanted to start for a very long time!

I have spent weeks and weeks doing all the behind the scenes work including paper work, creating systems and constructing ways to make sure this works for everyone including ways we can come together and open up doors into more ways of hunting like public land use and helping out our community.

So please know, this isnt about me this is all about you guys who sign up as patt of OUR CLUB!

Just so you know, this is not a good bye. This is an I'll be back soon and even better than before.

A quick update from me 👇

I just wanted to take a moment to touch base and be transparent with everyone, as things may feel a little quieter than expected at the moment.

There have been a few behind-the-scenes pieces that I’ve needed to rework and double-check properly before moving forward. This includes refining membership structures, forms, and general club setup so everything is aligned and solid before the upcoming Landholders Roundtable and next stages of the club.

Alongside this, I’ve been juggling some full-on life responsibilities, including the food trailer, family commitments, and a few unexpected personal logistics that needed immediate attention. None of this means the club has stopped or lost direction. It just means I’m making sure things are done right, not rushed.

I also want to acknowledge anyone who has been waiting on a phone call or email from me. I haven’t forgotten you. I’ve simply held off reaching out while I reworked a few things so that when I do make contact, the information I’m giving you is clear, accurate, and finalised. I’ll be working through those conversations as soon as everything is locked in.

I’m not hiding, procrastinating, or stepping away. Progress is happening, even if a lot of it is currently happening quietly in the background.

Community Call-Out | Training Days, Events & Local Collaboration

The Cassowary Coast Hunters Club is calling on our local community, businesses, and skilled individuals who would love to be involved in something bigger than just an event.

We have our events mapped out for the year and are in the process of building structured training days, education sessions and community events that focus on ethical hunting, land stewardship, safety, conservation, and practical skills relevant to life in North Queensland.

To do this properly, we are seeking people and businesses who want to contribute their knowledge, services, products, or time to help strengthen our local community.

We are currently looking for involvement from
• Local businesses interested in sponsorship, pop-up stalls, or event partnerships
• Firearm safety educators and licensed instructors
• Dog handlers, trainers, and working dog professionals
• First aid trainers, emergency response, and remote area safety specialists
• Butchers, wild game processors, and food handling educators
• Farmers, landholders, and agricultural professionals
• Conservation and pest management experts
• Mechanics, fabricators, and off-road vehicle specialists
• Outdoor, camping, and 4WD businesses
• Local food vendors and catering options for event days
• Media, photography, and content creators who want to support community-based initiatives

Our training and event days are not about ego or competition. They are about
• Education over recklessness
• Safety over shortcuts
• Respect over entitlement
• Long-term solutions over quick fixes

We want to create events that genuinely benefit
• Landholders dealing with feral animal pressure
• Hunters who want to operate ethically and responsibly
• Families who want to learn skills and be involved
• Local businesses looking to connect with the community
• The wider region through better practices and cooperation

We often hear the claim: “If you live in the city, you don’t need a gun.”
That idea ignores a long and uniquely Australian reality.

For generations, the end-of-week escape from the rat race has drawn city people back to the bush — not as tourists, but as helping hands. From the swag men of the Depression era, walking the bush and swapping labour for a meal, to the post-war decades when city kids rode bikes and trams to nearby farms to control rabbits and put food on the table to help feed their families.

That tradition never disappeared — it simply evolved.

Farmers are busy farming. Many rely heavily on trusted, law-abiding hunters from the city to give up their weekends and holidays to control feral animals and pests. In tough seasons, that helping hand can mean the difference between stock surviving a drought or being driven off by pigs, goats, or other invasive species.

City-dwelling hunters are not a public safety risk. They are part of one of the oldest exchanges in the Australian bush: labour for access, effort for stewardship, responsibility for trust.

They are not an anomaly.
They are one of the foundations of this nation.

The Landholders Programme | What We’re Building Together

The Landholders Programme within The Cassowary Coast Hunters Club is the backbone of what we are creating.

This club was never designed to be just a hunting group.
It was designed to be a structured, respectful bridge between landholders and ethical hunters, working together for long-term solutions to real problems across the Cassowary Coast.

At its core, the Landholders Programme aims to
• Give landholders a direct voice in how hunting access is managed
• Create safer, more accountable hunting practices on private property
• Reduce feral animal impacts through coordinated and ethical control
• Build trust, communication and clear expectations on both sides
• Protect landholder rights, property, livestock, and livelihoods

This is not about opening gates and sending people in blindly. It is about structure, standards, and shared responsibility.

As a collective team, landholders, hunters, and the club work together too:
• Set clear rules, boundaries, and access conditions
• Match suitable hunters to suitable properties
• Ensure hunters are insured, educated, and accountable
• Share feedback, reporting, and outcomes
• Create long-term working relationships, not one-off access

The goal is simple but powerful.
Stronger relationships. Better outcomes. Less damage. More respect.

This programme is being built with landholders, not for them.

Their input, concerns, and expectations shape how it operates from the ground up.

Alrighty fam, this is what’s up with The Cassowary Coast Hunters Club.

Over the coming weeks I’ll be holding Landholders Roundtable meetings for the Cassowary Coast, and these are honestly some of the most important meetings this club will ever have.

This club is being built for landholders first and foremost.

Yes, hunters benefit. But without landholders, there is no ethical, organised, respectful hunting access.

There is no proper feral management support. There is no long-term solution.

These meetings are about:
• Hearing directly from landholders
• Understanding what YOU want and need
• Building a program that actually works for farms and properties
• Creating clear expectations, boundaries, and respect
• Protecting your land while supporting feral control

I want as many landholders in the room as possible so this club is shaped with you, not around you.

Big Things Coming for the Cassowary Coast Hunters Club 🌿🐗

Over the coming weeks, the Cassowary Coast Hunters Club will be hosting our first Landholders Roundtable discussions, and this is a really important step forward for the club and for our region.

To make it easier for landholders to attend, we will be running two separate sessions:
• One for the North Cassowary Coast
• One for the South Cassowary Coast

This way landholders can join without having to travel long distances and we can have meaningful, local conversations about feral animal management, expectations, access, and how the club can best support those who care for the land.

These roundtables are about listening first.
Understanding landholder needs.
And building a system that works for everyone, not just hunters.

Membership forms will still be available for anyone who wants to collect one and learn more about how the club works. (I am at my food trailer Mon-Wed every week with sign ups)

There are limited Founding Membership spots remaining, which lock in the lowest membership price available before prices move to the next tier.
Even becoming a Supporter Member helps strengthen the club and shows there is community backing behind what we are building.

The club bank account is also in the process of being set up, which is another important step in officially establishing the club as we head into 2026.

This is not just about today or tomorrow.
This is about building something solid, respectful, and lasting for the Cassowary Coast.

I want to share Why the Cassowary Coast Hunters Club Exists and Why It Matters Right Now

There has been a lot of discussion recently around regulated hunting in Queensland state forests, and posts like this one highlight something many of us already know.

The problem is not a lack of people willing to do the work.
The problem is a lack of structure, vetting, accountability, and recognition for those already doing it properly.

Feral pigs are causing serious damage across Queensland. They are destroying crops, spreading disease, and costing regional communities millions. Hunters are already out there, putting in the time, effort, and personal cost to help control numbers. What has been missing is a clear, organised framework that separates responsible hunters from reckless behaviour.

This is exactly why the Cassowary Coast Hunters Club was created.

Not to create a free-for-all.
Not to push boundaries illegally.
But to build a locally recognised, ethical, accountable hunting community that can stand behind its members.

My long-term vision is for this club to grow into a trusted local body that can:

• Vet hunters properly
• Set clear standards and expectations
• Provide proof of ethical behaviour and training
• Support hunters seeking legal access to land and, in future, permitted state forests
• Collect real data around feral pig control on the Cassowary Coast
• Recognise those who are genuinely putting in the work

I want hunters who are doing things right to be able to say:
“I am vetted. I am accountable. I am backed by a club and a community.”

One of the long-term goals of this club is to build real data, not talk.

• How many pigs are being removed
• Where damage is occurring
• Who is consistently contributing
• Who is operating ethically and responsibly

Hunters who are weighing in pigs, reporting activity, respecting rules, and caring for their dogs should be recognised, not lumped in with poor behaviour.

That level of proof and organisation is exactly what is being talked about when regulated hunting models are discussed.

We are in a time where fi****ms, hunting, and shooters are under intense scrutiny. Public perception matters, whether we like it or not.

Clubs like this help protect responsible hunters by:
