Thank goodness for sunshine and blue sky today. I'm feeling like an old lady. I've just been for an eye test; my right eye is getting quite bad now, and the lenses are getting thicker. I just paid to have new lenses shaved down to look thinner (who knew this was a thing); my new distance glasses and sunglasses are ordered. I also had a free hearing test, which I failed, so I'm going for another test tomorrow at the audiology clinic š. I've also booked in for physio on my dodgy hip for the end of the week. No squats or deadlifts! Yay meā¦. I like to think I look after myself, in between popping pills for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and low vitamin D. I eat well most of the time, try to limit wine, walk, and lift weights. Still my age is catching up with me. Today, I've drawn another picture and am now making a felt giraffe š¦.

Today is my 29th wedding anniversary. We married in a tiny parish church in Northern England all those years ago. Who would have thought we would end up living on the other side of the world all these years later? Today we've walked 10km with the dog, gone to the shopping centre, and now my husband is cooking dinner. Perfect day in my opinion... ā¤ļø Has anyone done anything for themselves today? Today, I have drawn a picture. Sitting here in my crafting room, dog under the table, I am finding a lot of peace. It's actually very peaceful, even though Motorhead is blasting in the kitchen.

As many of you know, my husband and I have relocated to Melbourne from Sydney. It's just us and our very needy Border Collie, Kozzie Koo. This move has made me think: how many of us are rebuilding our lives, getting used to empty nesting, going through menopause, eating well, exercising, finding hobbies, or figuring out what to wear and how to live a happy, well-balanced life? I am going to use my Personal Training page to share what I'm doing to get through the above, plus whatever life throws our way in the coming months and years. I am and always have been a stay-at-home mum, I've been a wife for 29 years, a mum for 29 years, and a dog mum for 20 years. I donāt think I've ever done anything just for me; I wonder how many people can relate to that. Now, as I sit in a rental house in East Melbourne surrounded by all my stuff - think four-bedroom house squeezed into a two-bedroom house - I am having time to ponder. So far, I am walking, creating, cooking, shopping (money depending...). I am me, and I am still a PT (luckily, some of my Sydney clients have stayed with me, and we get to meet up online every week). It's been wonderful seeing them, training, chatting, and they've certainly kept me sane (apparently, I watch too many exercise videos and come up with different exercises every week). As from tomorrow, I will share with you how I am navigating life here in Melbourne, away from my kids (they are all still around the Shire, living, working, and enjoying their lives). They arenāt kids⦠28, 25 and 20.

You donāt have to run to get fit, you donāt have to starve yourself to loose weight!
Lifting weights builds muscle, which in turn increases metabolism.
Squats, Deadlifts, Rows⦠these are your base exercises. Everything else is there to fluff your routine out.
As long as you eat a good diet, lots of colour, textures, proteins. You have a base to grow stronger.
Start lifting light, then lift heavier.

Not every workout you do is about gains, its about you. Its about turning up, even on the days you donāt want to, its about feeling better, moving better, doing better for you. Donāt do it for anyone else, do it for you.
