Sunshine Coast Eskrima was founded by Master Teresa (6th degree black belt) approximately 20 years go. Master Teresa has been graded by our founder, (the late) Supreme Grand Master Cacoy Canete in Cebu, Phillipines (1st degree blackbelt in 2000). In her 25+ years of training she has also been blessed to train under Grandmaster Vince Palumbo in Adelaide, South Australia and Grand Master Rob Davies. She has also trained with many international Grand Masters such as (in no particular order) Ron Lew (USA), Maul Mornie (Brunei), and John John Mac (Philippines), Dan Inosanto (USA), Doug Machida (USA) just to name a few. Many of Master Teresa's students are highly ranked martial artists in other systems/styles. Master Teresa's style of teaching is very open, welcoming and generous.

We are honored to share this heartfelt message from the President of Cacoy Cañete Doce Pares Worldwide (CCDP), Sr. GM Chuck Anthony Cañete in celebration of the continued growth and development of Eskrido.

As we gather through competition, training, and fellowship, we are reminded of the vision of the late Supreme Grandmaster Ciriaco “Cacoy” Cañete and his lifelong dedication to innovation, practicality, adaptability, and the continuous development of Filipino Martial Arts.

This message also highlights the dream of establishing a CCDP-sanctioned international Eskrido event, honoring the life, contributions, and enduring legacy of the founder.

May we continue to preserve, practice, develop, and carry Eskrido forward for generations to come.
