Over the past few months, I took an extended break from social media. What began as a six-week pause quietly turned into ten.

Like many people running businesses, I found the constant stream of information, opinions, advertising and expectations was starting to feel overwhelming. So I decided to step back and invest my time and energy where it mattered most — in my work, my thinking and the people around me.

A few things became clear during that time.

Firstly, how easily social media fills every small moment of quiet. Reaching for the phone becomes almost automatic. Secondly, how much advertising and noise sits in our feeds without us really noticing the impact it has on our attention, spending and energy. And finally, how much I value real conversations and meaningful connection — the kind that often happens away from screens.

So for now, Cranham & Co will be taking a more mindful approach here.

You’ll still see the occasional post when I have something genuinely worth sharing, but I’m stepping away from the expectation of being constantly present online.

In the meantime, you can always find me here:

After all, the first principle of the work I do is simple —
take care of yourself.
It felt important to practise that too.

Monday Mindful Motivation

This week, I’m celebrating my mum’s birthday. The woman who taught me that kindness and connection are the real anchors of a joyful life.

Her way of making people feel seen, valued, and welcomed shaped the leader I became.

So, this week, a gentle reminder: slow down, reach out, and choose kindness. It costs nothing and changes everything.

This week on the road, I’ve been reminded of the extraordinary power of community and leadership in our rural towns.

From visiting the Kepie Centre to spotting models of a shearer and sheep, and a kangaroo and her joey, and taking in the rolling hills dotted with sheep and cows, it’s clear that these communities honour what’s around them. Their animals, their landscape, their unique stories.

They don’t just preserve their heritage; they actively shape services and spaces to meet the needs of their people, ensuring everyone feels included and supported.

Leadership here isn’t about title. It’s about seeing what’s needed, stepping in, and fostering connections that make success feel inevitable. When a town comes together with purpose and heart, the impact is tangible, and the energy is contagious.

A reminder for us all: whether you’re leading a town, a team, or a family, community matters, and when nurtured, it transforms everything.

Monday Mindful Motivation

This week’s mindful intention is to spend time in nature — to step outside and breathe.

Whether it’s a walk on the beach, a quiet moment in the garden, or sitting under a tree, nature grounds us and reminds us of our place in the world.

When we take time to notice the details, the sound of leaves, the texture of bark, the warmth of sunlight we reconnect with clarity and calm. It’s a powerful antidote to busy minds and full calendars.

Where will you find your moment in nature this week?

I'm interested to hear from anyone who has done forest bathing and learn more about your experience.

On this World Kindness Day, I’ve been reflecting — quite literally — on how the kindness we show is so often mirrored back to us.

Today, I paid extra attention to the gentle gestures around me — a colleague sharing her wisdom freely, an elderly man waving twice as I passed by, and a driver kindly giving way when he didn’t have to.

Kindness doesn’t need grand gestures. It’s found in moments of patience, connection and generosity. Each small act creates ripples, brightening someone’s day.

Just like the sun’s reflection across still water.

Monday Mindful Motivation

This week’s mindful intention is about connection — reaching out, checking in, and being part of something bigger than ourselves.

In Ikigai, this is called Sudan Ishiki — a sense of belonging and shared purpose within our community.

Whether it’s a kind word, a shared laugh, or lending a hand, connection fuels our wellbeing and strengthens our leadership.

We are not meant to do life alone. Who could you reach out to this week?

Short week… long to-do list!

After the Melbourne Cup holiday on Tuesday (and that unofficial Monday slowdown), this week has felt like a whirlwind of emails, phone calls and end-of-year requests.

The energy has been big, almost like a storm rolling through the inbox!

Who else has had a crazy short week?

While we can’t complain, because flow is good. Starting each day with the right mindset has made all the difference. A quiet meditation, a mindful moment, a strong coffee, and a good breakfast… simple anchors before the rush begins.

Here’s to breathing deeply, staying calm, and finding laughter in the chaos.

Because when you move your feet forward, your mind follows too.

Thank goodness it’s Friday.

Monday Mindful Motivation

This week’s mindful intention is to move. To stretch, walk, dance, or simply step away from the desk.

Movement isn’t about intensity or perfection; it’s about energy, clarity, and connection with yourself.

Even small bursts of activity. Aa walk around the block, gentle yoga, or standing to stretch can reset the mind and lift the spirit.

When we move, we shift energy, emotion, and perspective. How will you move your body (and your mind) this week?

Sometimes, as leaders, we get so busy moving from one thing to the next that we forget to pause and celebrate what we’ve achieved.

This week has been one of the most fulfilling for me as a small business owner.

Over the weekend, I spent time with fellow hosts, sharing stories of success and challenges in creating unique guest experiences. And I’m thrilled to say—Bobby Three One Oh had its best hosting month since we started in 2019!

Monday, I kicked off the week at the Hospitality in Healthcare Conference, sharing my leadership journey and some key soft skills for leading teams (and yourself!).

Wednesday, it was all about renewable energy at the Melbourne Expo, representing O’Brien Electrical Geelong.

Thursday night, we celebrated business achievements across Geelong—our team was recognised as finalists in four categories, including employer of choice and customer service.

It feels so good to pause, reflect, and celebrate. When was the last time you celebrated your wins, big or small?

Still buzzing after sharing my keynote “Collaboration, Inspiration and Innovation” at the Institute of Hospitality in Healthcare Conference yesterday!

It was such a joy to tell stories about my leadership journey (and of course about Mum — our very own Dancing Queen, Patsy 💖).

We talked about how collaboration begins with genuine connection, innovation with curiosity, and inspiration with those small, ordinary moments that matter most.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in with so much energy, laughter and heart. You made the morning unforgettable!

Jodie Cranham of Cranham & Co at yesterday's IHHC 42nd National Conference. Jodie gave a fascinating keynote speech and workshop on leadership. The well attended event was buzzing, with everyone challenged to think outside the box. A terrific way to get the brain cells fired up on this first day of our latest conference!

Monday Mindful Motivation

This week’s reminder – how we eat matters just as much as what we eat.
When we pause, breathe, and truly taste our food, we create space to slow the mind, nourish the body, and reset our energy for the week ahead.

Mindful eating isn’t about perfection – it’s about presence. A quiet moment to care for yourself in the midst of leading, doing, and supporting others.
