A special day at Western Heights College as current Golden State Warriors player Alex Toohey spent time with our Specialist Basketball Program! 🏀💙💛

Alex made the most of our facilities, getting a lift in the gym, completing an on-court workout with Coach Ash, answering questions from our students, and then leading an on court basketball session where he shared his knowledge, experiences and passion for the game.

One of the things that makes our program so unique is the incredible support we receive from the basketball community. We are fortunate to regularly welcome current NBA and WNBA players through our doors, who not only utilise our facilities and work alongside our coaching staff, but also take the time to inspire the next generation.

A huge thank you to Alex for his generosity, humility and willingness to give back. Experiences like these leave a lasting impact on our students and show them what’s possible through hard work, dedication and a love for the game. 🌟🏀 Good luck next season and go Warriors!! 💛💙

Congratulations to our Senior Girls Soccer Team who have booked their place in the SSV State Final on 8 September after a dominant 4-0 victory in today’s Western Metropolitan Region Final! 🏆👏

This is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the talent, commitment and culture within our Specialist Sports Program.

Even more impressive, 11 of the 18 players in today’s squad are students from our Specialist AFL Program, showcasing the athleticism, versatility and competitive mindset our students develop across multiple sports.

We are incredibly proud of the entire team and coaching staff and can’t wait to see them represent Western Heights College on the state stage.

Western Heights College is proud to celebrate three Specialist Basketball Program students who have earned the opportunity to represent on the international stage in 2026.

🇰🇷 Jade Chow has been selected in the Victoria Select Team and will compete at the WKBL Futures League Tournament in Seoul, South Korea.

🇨🇳 Elijah Whiteford has been selected in the U18 Australian Select Team and will compete at the Shanghai Future Stars tournament in Shanghai, China.

🇨🇳 Deng Yak has also been selected in the U18 Australian Select Team and will compete at the Shanghai Future Stars tournament in Shanghai, China.

These selections are a testament to the hard work, commitment and dedication each student has shown, and we are incredibly proud to see them representing Victoria and Australia on the international stage.

Daniel has been selected in the 2026 Marsh AFL National Development Championships U16 Boys All Australian Team, recognising him as one of Australia’s best Under 16 footballers.

This is an incredible achievement and a testament to his hard work, dedication and commitment to continual improvement.

Wishing Jack Te Paa all the best for the 15&U Netball Australian Schools Sport Championships being held at the State Netball Centre this week. The Year 9 SNP cohort are looking forward to supporting Jack and his team in action tomorrow and experiencing the environment of a Netball National Championships for both boys and girls.

On Monday our Intermediate Girls netball teams took out both the A & B Division Grandfinal matches. The Navy Team 13-10 vs Belmont HS and Orange Team 17-6 vs Belmont HS.

Today our Senior Girls Team had a successful day taking out the Grandfinal Match 27-17 vs Grovedale College.

All teams were undefeated a great effort and WHC will now progress in the Intermediate Girls and Senior Girls Western Metropolitan Region round next Tuesday in Altona.
