We’re incredibly excited to welcome three outstanding additions to our SSP coaching team, bringing genuine elite-level experience into our programs.
🏉 MEL BRAGG — SSP FOOTBALL
Mel joins our Football Program with a unique background across two elite sporting codes. A former Geelong Cats AFLW player and Collingwood Magpies Suncorp Super Netball player, Mel brings first-hand experience of what it takes to perform, prepare and compete at the highest level.
🏀 DEMARCUS GATLIN — SSP BASKETBALL
Demarcus will step into our Basketball Program while Kaleb is away. A long-time Geelong star across the SEABL/NBL1 era, Demarcus brings an incredible amount of playing experience, leadership and knowledge to our students, and is still getting it done, recently being named the 2026 NBL1 South Defensive Player of the Year.
🏉 ZACH TUOHY — SSP FOOTBALL
Few resumes speak for themselves quite like Zach’s. A 288-game AFL career across Carlton and Geelong, 2022 AFL Premiership player and the record-holder for the most VFL/AFL games played by an Irish-born player.
At Western Heights, we want our students learning from people who know what the highest level looks like because they’ve lived it. Bringing elite athletes and coaches into our environment to teach, mentor and challenge our students is a huge part of what sets the standards and expectations of our program.
