Can’t believe it’s been a month already.
It was great to have Eddie and Jasmina down from Queensland for the inaugural Australian Adaptive Boxing Council event on May 16.
For anyone who missed it, here’s the full Adaptive Boxing bout between Phil and Eddie.
A huge thanks to everyone who helped make the weekend possible.
For those who don’t have time to watch the full bout, round 3 will be in the comments

Last night was fight night, and what a night it was.
Phil and Eddie went to war for 3 rounds straight. No pretending, no pulling punches, just two blokes stepping into the unknown and leaving absolutely everything in the ring. It was adaptive boxing at its rawest and most genuine.
The decision went Eddie’s way, and credit where it’s due, he was a worthy winner and an absolute ripping bloke across the entire weekend. Honestly, the fight was so close that it genuinely felt like it could’ve gone either way, which says a lot about the effort both men put in. There’s a reason Phil and Eddie are boxer #1 and boxer #2 in Australian wheelchair boxing.
What made me most proud wasn’t even the result. It was the humility, respect and professionalism shown afterwards. Phil represented Complete Health Geelong, Coach Luke and himself with absolute class, and Eddie and Jazz were incredible people to share the experience with.
This also marked the first official bout under the Australian Adaptive Boxing Council banner, which makes the night even more special. We learned a lot, proved a lot, and I genuinely feel like the next steps forward for adaptive boxing are clearer now than they’ve ever been before.
Massive thank you to everyone who helped make the event happen, especially BoxingFit for hosting and putting in an enormous amount of work behind the scenes, the Boxing Yak Foundation for supporting Phil with gear and preparation, Complete Health Geelong for the training and mentorship, Smart Body Australia for working side by side with us, The Telegraph Hotel for helping get Eddie down from Queensland, and everyone else who backed the vision from day one.
If any of this resonates with you, or you’d like to learn more about getting involved, whether that’s for fitness, community or eventually stepping into the ring yourself, feel free to send the page a message.

Final training session done.
We’re as ready as we can be now. Time to trust the work and see what Saturday brings. Proud to have Conor stepping into the ring alongside Phil representing CHG as well.

Some of you might already know this, others probably don’t.
Phil has very limited use of his legs. Because of that, swimming is extremely difficult, and being around deep water isn’t something he’s naturally comfortable with.
Today we took training down to the promenade and right out to the edge.
Wheelchair backed up near the drop, gloves on, working away.
To most people, this just looks like a good session in the sun, but it’s not.
This is Phil stepping into a space that challenges him, and doing it anyway. No hesitation. No fuss. Just getting the work done.
That’s the part people don’t always see, the mindset and the willingness to face things head on.
That’s why we do what we do.
Putting in the work at BoxingFit Port Melbourne. Eyes on May 16.
