Archer & Archer is Sarah & Troy Archer - contact us on [email protected] Q: Why do you guys use exclamation marks all the time? A: That's easy! A: Yes!
ff! Q: Who makes up Archer & Archer? A: We're a massive organisation, we have people running all the over the place doing all sorts of important things. Actually, that's a lie, it's just Sarah and Troy Archer. Q: What else do you guys do? A: Sarah is a new Mum to our beautiful daughter Minnie! She's is also a singer/songwriter (facebook.com/thisisarcher) and a garment designer. A 'World's Best Bolognese' cook and someone who craves organisation and planning. I'm a forgetful, unorganised graphic and fine artist with a business and marketing degree. A skateboarder and surfer who never does either very often anymore. Q: Let's talk about Archer & Archer, what's the go there? A: This could be a long one so let's try and keep it short. Firstly, we both share a deep and very real passion for spaces. We often say things like 'just because it's old doesn't mean it's awesome', by that we mean that we're not tragically vintage, we just like good unique things with character and personality. Good design, colouring, form, function and so on...
OK, now let's wind it back a bit to explain how we got started, or why anyway. I (Troy) have some sort of heated affinity with finding interesting things, it goes back to my youth. I'd climb through the lantana, into the old well and pull up old bottles because I just had to, it was way too interesting and fun. I very clearly remember digging up broken pieces of porcelain on our farm in Coopers Shoot, I remember that so clearly. Wish we still owned that farm Mum... anyway, moving on. Fast forward to about 1996, I decided that I wanted to get hold of a new version of the first skateboard I had and I set off looking for something which would become the biggest challenge of my young adult life. Turns out the search would take close to 12 years before i'd get myself an unused one and along the way I reignited that deep interest for digging up the bottles and broken porcelain on the farm. I'd say about 10 years ago my eyes were well and truly peeled open to the amazing-ness and intriguing unique-ness that comes with finding things. Sometimes these things are old and sometimes they're not, we don't care, so long as they're rad to the max. So, over time we amassed lots of things, just picking up things here and there because we 'HAD TO HAVE THEM'. We got to the point where the garage wouldn't close anymore and the cars were already outside. Then in a fateful sort of way I broke my pelvis snowboarding and I was forced to take some time off and heal. During that time we made a logo, worked out what we thought we could do with all this rad stuff and then in October of 2011 we kicked off our first bit of activity. The first thing we sold was a little old desk fan to a friend of ours named Mark Searle, he owns Darkside Skateboards and is a lovely man. And that's where it all began I guess. If we cut through all the pictures and what not, our whole aim is to help people add elements of amazing to their homes, studio apartments, offices, yards, retail spaces, photoshoots and window displays. We plan to do this by serving up a regular assortment of vintage and new, whatever comes into our view that we think is (insert impactful swear word-ing) epic. Q: OK, that was a long answer, give me a short answer to this. How old are you guys? A: Sarah is well under 30 and i'm just over 30. Q: Where do you get your stuff from? A: Oh good question. Everywhere and never you mind. One place that we don't get anything from is eBay. Oh wait, I bought a skateboard there the other day. Q: Are you going to have a proper website one day. A: Yes, we will when we can afford to have one. Right now we have a landing page at www.archerandarcher.com
Q: I kind of like Archer & Archer, but i'm not totally sure why? Can you help me with that? A: Of course I can. You like it because it's awesome, it feels young and because you're young or young-at-heart you can relate to it. It's light hearted, we don't proclaim to know that much about architectural movements, timbers, materials or even what price things should be and we're happy to admit that. We're not snobs, we're garden variety people that love looking at things that make us spew tears of excitement out of our eyes, haha, awesome! We love decorating and then redecorating and we want to help you do the same! Q: Can this be the last question? A: Yes
Q: Wait! I have another question. When do you sell stuff. A: Another good question Troy, I mean, Interviewer. We put new things up every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm & 9pm. Occasionally we do this thing called "Out Of The Blue", which happens randomly too. Then those things are for sale until they're gone. You just comment SOLD to buy what you can't live without. Q: Oh crap, I have another question. Do you like chocolate?
