Absolutely delighted for ECGA Tour Team player Isaac winning in front of a home crowd on the China tour today with 64-62-65-64 at HKGC.

Isaac lead from the beginning for a wire to wire victory which is never easy. He managed all the ups and downs that tournament golf can give and a wonderful result for someone who has been putting a lot of quality inputs into his game for a long time.

Super presentation from Karl Morris today for THE COACH CLUB members talking about his journey with Open Champion Ryan Fox.

Some wonderful insights with excellent takeaways and strategies for Coaches to use with their clients.

Lots of birdies from some of the ECGA Tour Team so far this week. Isaac with 64-62 after 2 rounds at the fanling classic, and James played a period of 26 holes in -15 under par in his tournament in Indonesia.

To have a Tour Career, players need to build their scoring confidence - their confidence in their ability to score low. To be contending for tournaments typically players will need to be -20 or better.

I am currently trying to dedicate 1 hour per day to writing a new book (my 8th!) called ‘THE SCORE CODE’. It’s been a challenge finding the time with moving house and hosting the Summer Camp Series but hopefully it’ll be ready by early October.

The book is focused on helping players build their scoring skills - and thinking - to build their scoring confidence. It’s a fusion of what I’ve seen and least from some of the best players in the world at tournaments, but also includes some of my reflections as a Coach and there is certainly plenty of material in there which I haven’t seen in the golfing domain before.

Skill acquisition post!

I often see players trying hard to change movements their swing hitting ball after ball, but in my opinion, this is the slowest way to learn and can be very frustrating.

Here I am doing a 3 ball LEARNING drill with James. The first is super slow motion, second one a little bit faster than the third ball normal.

No practice swings or practice feels allowed so this really engages his learning focus and the question he has to ask himself between these the shots - ‘is the feel he same or is the feel different?’

All of these practice concepts will be available in THE PRACTICE CODE launch date 1st September

One of the concepts I say to players is that on course practice is worth double practice on the range for the practice green!

Here we are playing a simple on course game with Asian Tour player James whereby he is playing two shots per hole. If he hits the GIR within 5 m twice he wins the hole, once and one other GIR it’s a draw otherwise it’s a loss.

Then we also have a short game going on whereby if he hits it within 3 feet it’s a birdie, within 6 feet a par and outside 6 feet a bogey. and again playing match play against the course. James did really well and ended up winning the short game tournament and drawing the GIR challenge.

On 1 September, we will be launching THE PRACTICE CODE app which will have 20 elite and tour level practice games

A short and simple drill you can do in your short game to help calibrate strike and flight, is to just try to hit three shots from similar lies to finish within a club length of each other.

It’s not as easy as it sounds, and it is a good development drill or you can also use it in your pre-round warm-up.

The 5th and final ASGI Summer Performance Camp for 2026. A big thank you to the support from the ASGI - a wonderful organization that supports Golf at all levels - thank you to Evian Resort Golf Club for the wonderful hospitality and facilities, thank you to all the coaches they recommend players to come to these camps, and finally a big thank you to the players for their effort and commitment during the camp timetable.

I always talk to players at all levels about what I call THE PEAK PERFORMANCE PIE - where we have to balance learning, results and enjoyment, and that’s exactly what we try to do in these camps.

Also great to hear about some of the results some of the camp students have had in the weeks following their camps., with young Benji going from 107 on day one of the camp to two weeks later shooting 74 in a club tournament! Lowest gross score during the camp has been 64(-8)!

It’s great to see players of different age build friendships through Golf

I believe elite players should have a number of different types of drives, just like tennis players have different serves.

So here we are with Asian Tour player James Leow, and he has three types of drives - The Fairway Finer, The Stock Drive and The Bomb.

So today we are measuring his clubhead speed on these three different types of drives throughout round. I think one mistake players elite players make is that they become obsessive over gaining distance. But for me, it’s about building FUNCTIONAL POWER - and then gradually developing speed whilst maintaining a good level of control.
