We’re excited to announce that we’re going to start offering 1 on 1 dog training at Barn Dogs.
We wanted to make these sessions a little different from your typical dog training.
The idea is pretty simple — find something your dog loves, give them an outlet, then use that to help with their training.
The first session is all about getting to know you and your dog and figuring out what makes them tick.
What do they enjoy? What motivates them? What do they naturally like doing?
We can try things like Scent Work, Barn Search, Dock Diving and different enrichment activities and see what your dog enjoys.
Doing a sport together isn’t just about tiring your dog out either. It helps build a bond between you and your dog, creates better communication and helps you understand each other better.
We want your dog to come and have some fun, use their brain and get to do something they actually enjoy. Then we can start addressing the things you’re struggling with and use that motivation to help with their training.
If they find a sport they love, we can help you build their skills and get started. And if they don’t enjoy any of the sports, that’s completely okay too. We can use our fenced paddock and different enrichment activities to find something that works for them.
From there we can work on the things you actually need help with — recall, focus, loose lead walking, impulse control, engagement, settling, everyday manners and unwanted behaviours.
We also offer support with reactivity.
We know first hand how judged you can feel when you have a reactive dog and how horrible it can make walking.
We want to help.
The goal isn’t necessarily for your dog to interact with every dog they see. Sometimes success is simply being able to see another dog and calmly carry on with their day.
Every dog is different and there’s no one size fits all approach.
Your first 1 on 1 session will be $80 for 60 minutes.
We’ll have a chat about what you’re currently struggling with, what your dog enjoys, what motivates them and what you’d like to work on. We’ll do some hands on training and try some different activities to start working out what makes your dog tick.
From there, we’ll come up with a plan that suits you and your dog.
Whether that’s finding a sport they love, giving them more enrichment and outlets, or working on specific behaviours.
There’s no pressure and no judgement.
We just want to help you understand your dog, find their thing, give them an outlet and build better behaviour along the way.
Ultimately we want to help you and your dog live your best life together.
