Last year, these Tama stepped onto the field for the first time together as U12s, carrying nothing but a love for the game and a willingness to learn. This year they stepped up into the U13 Teina Tama space, a new age group, new challenges, and a bigger stage.

What they showed over this weekend was more than just footy.

They showed courage in moments that tested them. They showed belief in each other when things got tough. They showed the kind of character that can’t be coached, only built through the people around you and the journey you choose to walk.

To see 6 of our Tama selected into the Aotearoa New Zealand Māori U13 Tournament Team is a moment that will stay with us. Not just because of the honour itself, and not just because it’s a first for our rōpū across any age, but because of what it represents. The countless hours, the commitment, the sacrifices made by their whānau, and the unwavering support that allows these boys to chase moments like this. This is bigger than a selection. It’s a reflection of the mahi, the belief, and the people who stand behind them every step of the way.

These boys are still at the beginning of their story, but this weekend they reminded us what happens when young people are surrounded by belief, culture, and a kaupapa that gives them something bigger to play for.

To our U13 Tama, we hope you understand how special this moment is. Continue to carry yourselves with humility, continue to look after each other, and continue to wear this jersey with the same heart you showed this weekend.

He mana tō rātou, he whakapehapeha tō mātou.

Thank you to everyone who continues to stand behind our boys, our coaches, our whānau, and our sponsors who help make these opportunities possible.

Mauri ora e ngā Tama 💙💫
