Lest We Forget

Wow, what a fantastic weekend of shooting at Gympie Sporting Clays for the QSCA Apex Sporting event.

As a first big QSCA State competition for the Gympie Sporting Clays Team at their new grounds, they presented a friendly & most enjoyable event for everyone that made the trip up, or down, from all the QSCA Clubs

That’s the name of the game, we are after all in the game of providing entertainment. Shooting is our sport and if people do not have fun, they will choose to spend their money elsewhere.

A full 25 target round in shoot offs between High Gun (Dean Crouch/Jack Davis) - Veterans (Tim Hunt / Max Whiting) - Masters (Darryl Groundwater/ Les Power) and with banter provided by Mick Lucas as compare and the members who stay to provide support from the club balcony. This showed the spirit that we need in the sport.

Well done Gympie Sporting Clays and all the members that came, this is what it is all about.

As a first registered Apex Sporting event no one had any scores in the system and grades could not be sorted until the event close. We will have the system team review now scores are in. We will have them check the algorithm’s as it seems everyone shot better scores than C Grade allows. Well done everyone for that.

Last but not least our thanks go out to the sponsors for this event.
Outdoor Trading Company (OTC) through Lee Berger (Promatic/GB Cartridges) who has been a long term sponsor of QSCA for more years than we can remember
QSCA - Yes the very same Queensland State Association who also provided 50% of the prize table and the Event Medals.

QSCA APEX SPORTING 2026 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS / GYMPIE SPORTING CLAYS

This is the first day of the second Apex Sporting State championships held by QSCA since the discipline was introduced from the SCA stable
The event is being held at the new Gympie Sporting Clays range which is just outside of town
Only a small footprint but the club is on the money in terms of target presentation for 2026.
A good turnout from very enthusiastic sporting Clay members and guests alike to sample the best of the Queensland weather. A good time of year as we make our way into the cooler months heading in to winter.

Scores are up and running on SCA Live scores if you want to look at the progress of the competition.
