Empowering you to move with confidence

πͺ Did you know that getting older doesn't mean you have to get weaker?
As we age, one of the biggest factors affecting our mobility and independence is muscle strength.
Most people begin to gradually lose strength from around the age of 30. This loss speeds up after 50, and after 60, strength can decline by around 2.5% each year if nothing is done.
So, what does this mean?
Less strength can make everyday activities like getting out of a chair, climbing stairs, or carrying groceries more difficult. It also increases the risk of falls and losing independence.
The good news? You can do something about it.
ποΈ Resistance training (strength exercise) is the most effective way to build and maintain muscle strength. Whether you're 65, 75, or even in your 90s, research shows it's never too late to get stronger.
In fact, one study found that resistance training reduced the risk of falls by 57%.
Ageing is inevitable. Losing strength doesn't have to be.
Don't let weak muscles hold you back. With the right exercises, you can build strength, improve your confidence, and stay independent for longer.
Not sure where to start? Get in touch with us today and let our Exercise Physiologists help you build strength safely and confidently.
Confidence starts with movement.
Whether you're recovering from an injury, managing ongoing pain, or simply wanting to stay active, we're here to help you move with confidence.

At Regenerate Allied Health, giving back is part of who we are.
Every month, a portion of our service fees is set aside to support charities making a difference in our community and beyond.
This month, we will be donating to National Breast Cancer Foundation as part of π©·GO PINK month. Funds raised help support vital breast cancer research, bringing us closer to the Foundation's goal of zero deaths from breast cancer.
While significant progress has been made and survival rates for those with Breast cancer have improved, still 9 Australians die from Breast Cancer per day.

π Injury Rehab Series β Part 4
πEffects of Aerobic Exercise on injury rehab
Aerobic Exercise is a physical activity that engages large muscle groups in a rhythmical manner by predominantly utilising aerobic energy pathways. Examples include walking, cycling, boxing, swimming.
This exercise can play a valuable role during injury rehabilitation by supporting both physical recovery and overall wellbeing. Some of the key benefits include:
β
Increases blood flow to injured tissues, helping deliver oxygen and nutrients needed for healing.
β
Helps maintain cardiovascular fitness during recovery and return to sport.
β
Improves mood, motivation, and overall wellbeing.
β
Supports improvements in physical function, muscle strength and joint mobility.
β
May help reduce pain and reliance on pain medication.
The right type and amount of aerobic exercise can be an important part of many rehabilitation programs and performance when returning to sport.
π‘ Don't overlook aerobic exercise when recovering from an injury.

π Injury Rehab Series β Part 3
π§ Does your mindset effect injury recovery?
The answer is yes.
Research shows that factors such as fear of movement, depression, anxiety, and catastrophising can have a significant impact on pain levels and physical function. When we expect the worst, our body can become more protective, often leading to increased pain, reduced movement, and decreased confidence.
On the other hand, people who have positive and realistic expectations about their recovery often achieve better outcomes. They tend to experience:
β¬οΈLower pain levels
πͺGreater confidence in their ability to recover
πImproved function over time
πBetter long-term outcomes
πThis doesn't mean you need to ignore your pain or pretend everything is fine. It means understanding that most injuries improve with time, appropriate rehabilitation, and consistent effort.
If you're currently dealing with an injury, remember:
β
Most injuries get better.
β
Recovery takes time.
β
Movement is often part of the solution, not the problem.
β
Having confidence in your ability to improve can positively influence your recovery.
Stay patient, stay consistent, and focus on what you can do today rather than what you can't.

π Injury Rehab Series β Part 2
βHow do I recover from an injury faster?
Every effective rehabilitation program focuses on three key principles:
β
Load Management
β
Modify Aggravating Activities
β
Graded Loading
πLoad Management
Doing too much activity too soon can aggravate an injury and trigger pain flare-ups.
The goal is to find a manageable level of daily activity that keeps you moving while allowing the injured tissue time to recover. This helps maintain function and keep you active without triggering pain flare-ups that can lead to inactivity.
πModify Aggravating Activities
Activities that significantly increase pain should be modified or temporarily reduced.
As a general guide, we aim to keep pain during daily tasks and activities below 5/10. Activities that cause intense pain may increase irritation of the injured area, further damage and risk of re-injury.
πͺGraded Loading
Exercise is one of the most important parts of recovery. It helps improve tissue strength, promotes healing, and rebuilds confidence in movement.
A graded loading approach involves gradually increasing the resistance, duration, or intensity of exercise as the injured tissue becomes stronger and more tolerant to load.
β οΈRecovering from an injury isn't about complete rest, it's about applying the right amount of load at the right time.
