Timber Poppers and Bass Bug painted up nice with lots of colour depth and plenty of sparkly gold. I gave them a quick swim test and the Poppers give a nice "Bloop" and push plenty of water. The Bass Bug has a great surface walk , makes enough noise to wake up any Bass and I think the paint pattern will do a good job of convincing the fish that its a cicada, bug or small bird and chomp it. I'm keen to go catch some fish with them now. If they go all right I think I'll make some more of the Bass bugs on the wood lathe next and paint them in Moth patterns, Frog colours or some Finch paint scheme. I might also look at making a larger version for Cod anglers if any ones keen.

Current lure builds:- 80 mm popper, 125 mm popper and a 70 mm Jitterbug style lure for the local Bass. The smaller popper is for Whiting, Bream, Flathead etc and will be fitted with some assist hooks on the rear. The Larger popper is ready for some Trevally at my xmas holidays. All were made on the wood lathe which I'm enjoying as a new challenge. I'll share some more pics once they are fully painted. I made the Jitterbug bib by hand from alloy and polished it up for extra flash. To top it off I had my first try at making 3d resin eyes and they look awesome for a basic eye made from aluminum foil glued on A4 paper, a dab of red paint and some epoxy resin.

First set of 10 x Timber "Mulgar 125 D" painted, tested and ready for sale. All signed and numbered as a colour set but I can sell as separate colours.
I swim tested all and as expected the action is awesome. Tail action with the slightest twitch of the rod with a nice thumping side action on a faster retrieve. (I'll post a video of the action).
Should dive to 20+ feet on the troll for Rock bar hugging Barra or deep gutter Flathead. Fitted with quality Eagle claw trebles and 4 H rings. Great collector items or give them a fish.
They are listed for sale on the face-book lure buying groups or message my page for full price and payment details.

New Timber Mulgar 125 D's painted in a 10 colour range set. Looking pretty good if I do say so myself. These are a whole new model based on my previously successful MULGAR lure range and the first time they've been made in wood....and probably the last time I hand make them given the amount of work involved. Also there's a set of 8 lures, inspired by another Aussie lure maker. They were apparently a top Barra lure but no longer made. So I've used the profile as a base, lengthened it, styled the head to a finer point, re-arranged the hook configuration a little and added a slightly different bib.
Tomorrow I'll start on my lure rotisserie so i can epoxy coat them all.

New Timber MULGAR 125's sealed and ready for a light sand before dipping in a Automotive Spray putty solution. Once that's sanded with wet and dry 400 grit paper, they'll be smooth as silk and ready for some colour. Any suggestions on a new Hot Barra?Flathead colour scheme welcomed.

Very slow going on this batch of Mulgar 125's Deep divers (the workshop is just too cold for me ). The new design on the Flared gills came up nice and sharp looking instead of the curved style, as featured in my old model. I used an Ozito hobby tool, and finished off with a file by hand and some sandpaper. a fully handcrafted lure basically.
The bibs are being hand-cut and next I'll move onto some eyelets. My timber lures will only ever be available in small numbers unless I have the lure bodies machined elsewhere.
I'm also exploring the idea of making a soft plastic version, which would slay the Barra, Salmon, Trevally and Flathead I think. But first I'll get this lot sorted.
I also have a prototype prawn lure waiting for a mould to be made and be field tested.

I haven't made a wooden lure for a while but I've finally got the sawdust flying with a new "MULGAR 125 Deep Diver". Previously my MULGAR 80 mm and 100mm deep divers, sold under the MAJIK LURES brand were awesome lures for Barra, Mangrove Jacks, Flathead etc , with reports of some great captures.
These new MULGAR 125's should get down to well over 20 ft +, with their 67 mm alloy bib, and be great on Barra hanging down deep on tropical rock bars, jewfish or the bigger Flatties.
Because they will have the classic Flared Gills, which are hand carved I'll only be making around 8 of them in timber, and any future lures will be moulded. I'll pop a few up for sale here when they're ready.
These plans ( for any lure makers trying to make some for themselves), also include a 75mm and 100mm version, and the original bib angle would be 15 degrees. A classic globe shape bib is ideal as a deep diver, but I haven't drawn them yet.
